Daily Affirmation #127

To what are its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?” (Job 38:6-7, MEV). The bible is full of little images like this. The stars singing in the morning. As if they had mouths, lungs, and the ability to carry a tune. Yet the bible doesn’t stand in opposition to human observation (what science truly is). The turbulence on the outer layers of the stars (and I suppose, planets) make sounds that get trapped inside and makes the star resonate. That resonance hits us like music. Eerie music, but music none the less. Astrophysicists around the world study these things and you can find some of the recordings of these sounds online. Each planetary body and star has a different resonance, a different set of magnetic waves that can be converted to sound. It can get pretty technical, but God said it was singing. Simple. Basic. Yet truthful. What about the Earth being a sphere when the world thought it was flat? “He is the one who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; the one who stretches out the heavens like a veil and spreads them out like a tent to live in” (Isaiah 40:22, LEB). We don’t always understand the symbols and descriptions when we get them, but God isn’t holding back. He isn’t keeping secrets. He has always shared knowledge that is GOOD. Knowing that makes everything NOT GOOD to be avoided. Right from the beginning He encouraged us to lean into Him and His knowledge. What a GREAT God!
