Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Get up and make your own bed!” And immediately he got up.
Acts 9:34 (emphasis added)
This is another example of a healing that does not come through prayer. The first was in Acts 3:6-8. Jesus did it with a blind man (Luke 18:35-43). He did it with Lazarus (John 11:38-44). Healing is NOT dependant on prayer. Healing is dependant on TRUST. Specifically, trust in what Jesus accomplished as the sacrifice for sin. That was spiritually accomplished before creation (Revelation 13:8). Jesus trusted in it during His ministry. The Father trusted in it during His ministry. Elohim trusted in it throughout the Old Covenant. And WE are to trust in it throughout the New Covenant. It is through this TRUST that healing occurs.
“Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” And immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they too gave praise to God” (Luke 18:42-43). The word translated as faith is the Greek word ‘pistis’ [pis’-tis]. It is defined as faith or faithfulness, but it can be USED in several ways. They include faith, belief, trust, confidence; fidelity, and faithfulness. It MEANS allegiance; trust; and trustworthiness. Pistis can refer to faith/trust, to that which one believes or trusts (the content of one’s faith), or to the personal trait of faithfulness/trustworthiness/integrity. There is always an implication that actions based on that trust may follow, which is why so often Jesus tagged the release of healing with action. “Having said this, he spat on the ground and made some mud with the saliva. He smeared the mud on the blind man’s eyes and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated “sent”). So the blind man went away and washed, and came back seeing” (John 9:6-7).
It is also action that the woman with the issue of blood tagged her trust to. “Now a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years but could not be healed by anyone. She came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of his cloak, and at once the bleeding stopped. Then Jesus asked, “Who was it who touched me?” When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds are surrounding you and pressing against you!” But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I know that power has gone out from me.” When the woman saw that she could not escape notice, she came trembling and fell down before him. In the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”” (Luke 8:43-48). Jesus wasn’t even conscious of her need. He wasn’t involved AT ALL. He didn’t even know who touched Him! If you look at the account in other Gospels (like Mark 5), you see that Jesus didn’t know who it was until the Holy Spirit revealed it to Him AFTER she had touched Him and AFTER He had looked for her. Healing is not dependent on an action, but TRUST that will breed action.
Sometimes that action is physical. Sometimes it seems to be internal. Accepting healing by word and heart can be just as important as accepting healing by action. If our hearts are not fully trusting Adonai, how can we expect to accept a healing we are unable to engage? “The good person out of the good treasury of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury produces evil, for his mouth speaks from what fills his heart” (Luke 6:45). If we fully trust in our heart we are set to engage healing. If we do NOT fully trust in our heart we have NO CHANCE to engage healing. We don’t need religious ritual. We don’t need formula. We need to TRUST. Again and again Jesus used that word (Pistis) more than once. There was more than one healing that hinged ONLY on whether or not the person had TRUST in the authority to wield healing that Jesus had.
Jesus in imbued with the healing power that was accomplished through the cross. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus’ NAME carries the authority to access the healing He released. Our TRUST in the authority of Jesus’ name enables us to engage that trust in healing. That is how Peter was able to simply say, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Get up and make your own bed!” He TRUSTED in the authority we as believers have been given. “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:13-14). “Then Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18-20).
We have the authority to use the name of Jesus according to the Will of the Father, which is the Word. Jesus said so. We know that healing was accomplished through Jesus and the experience of the cross. He was our sacrifice. He was our payment. In HIM we are redeemed from the curse (Galatians 3:13). Healing is ours to engage. It is one of the things we are to do as we witness. To preach and teach the Word (the Good News that there is no longer a wall between Elohim and humanity) and to heal. We can command it. If we all had trust that healing was ALWAYS available, we would have no problem engaging it. The only way we will have trust that healing is always available is to get the Word on it deep into our hearts. To start LIVING what we are reading, instead of reading it and declaring it nice.
Healing is not accomplished by begging. Healing is not accomplished because we want it. Healing is not accomplished because Jesus wants it. Healing is not accomplished because Yahweh wills it. Healing is accomplished through Jesus’ sacrifice. WE access that healing the SAME WAY that Adonai does. Through TRUST. That’s why Jesus told us to use His Father’s trust (Mark 11:22). We need to do what HE does the way HE does it. Jesus only ever healed according to the trust His Father had in it. That’s how healing works. It worked for Him, it will work for us. It does not need to be drawn out or gradual. It can be complete and it can be instantaneous. It can ALSO be gradual. Healing works according to TRUST. What is in our hearts will determine what we are able to walk in.
Let your mind get renewed to HIS point of view on healing. Don’t make Him meet you where YOU are. Meet Him where HE is. That is all part of SEEKING. Of INVESTIGATING Adonai. “Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Keep thinking about things above, not things on the earth, for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ (who is your life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him” (Colossians 3:1-4).
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Psalm 72:10-11
“The kings of Tarshish and the coastlands will offer gifts; the kings of Sheba and Seba will bring tribute. All kings will bow down to him; all nations will serve him.” Great people were going to visit Messiah. One of the great Rabbinical teachers of the day came to see Him (John 3:1–21). Herod Antipas had been eager to see Jesus (Luke 23:8). And of course, royal astronomers and wise men came to see Him. “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, in the time of King Herod, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him. After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. “In Bethlehem of Judea,” they said, “for it is written this way by the prophet: ‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are in no way least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’” Then Herod privately summoned the wise men and determined from them when the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and look carefully for the child. When you find him, inform me so that I can go and worship him as well.” After listening to the king they left, and once again the star they saw when it rose led them until it stopped above the place where the child was. When they saw the star they shouted joyfully. As they came into the house and saw the child with Mary his mother, they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasure boxes and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:1-11). Jesus had centurions seeking Him out (Matthew 8:5-13). Leaders of synagogues wanted His attention (Mark 5:21-43). Rich men sought out Jesus (Matthew 19:16-22). Even Greeks from outside of the country came to see Jesus (John 12:20-50). Jesus was sought out by the great of every arena in life. Jesus IS the Messiah!
