Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; your Spirit is good. Lead me onto level ground
Psalm 143:10
There are three requirements for this promise. It’s a GREAT promise, too. First, we need to acknowledge Adonai as Elohim. Second, we need to be teachable. Third, we need to accept His Ruach as good. If we do those three things, we will be led onto level ground. A level yard, for example, can boost the value of your home because it is aesthetically pleasing. It can provide stability and correct drainage AWAY from your home – avoiding damage and costly repairs. In agriculture, it guarantees that the crops have even access to water and nutrients, which provides higher yields of healthier plants. A level surface in sports provides equal opportunities for the athletes, regardless of where they are positioned. It also ensures a safe playing environment. It increases safety and decreases the injury risk to the participants. It improves the quality of the playing surface, reduces the chance of waterlogging, and helps keep the surfaces playable in all weather. Its appearance can also attract more players to the facility or area, being pleasing to the eye and subconsciously affecting the level of play the athletes operate at. These are SOME of the benefits of level ground. Just THINK of what the spiritual benefits are to level ground prepared by Adonai Elohim.
Yahweh is our SOURCE. Our Father whom we humbly submit to in loving obedience. Our provider, our healer, our everything. We have to CHOOSE to make Him our God. We don’t HAVE to worship Him. We can worship any ONE or any THING that we want to. Granted, idolatry is STUPID, but it IS a choice. In this sense-driven world, it is often easier to grab at a symbol or an image and cleave to that. Thomas certainly felt that something so far beyond the human experience as Jesus RESURRECTED AS GOD needed something more substantial than simply words. But Thomas also acknowledged his error. He took the lesson Jesus taught him to heart (John 20:29). He died evangelizing the world with just the Word for people to believe on. So did the rest of the early church. And look at what they accomplished. They changed the world.
What can WE do? Everything they did and MORE. Because there are more of us. Because technology has advanced. Because Adonai has continued to pour out His Ruach upon us. Because nothing has passed away, it has INCREASED! We WILL do GREATER THINGS (John 14:12) as well as what Jesus Himself did. The early church did greater things. So can we. We have the SAME Ruach they did. If we acknowledge Adonai and choose Him as our God, Lord, Saviour, and King, then we stand to gain what He promised us: Ruach HaKodesh. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory into glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). Because we accept Jesus as Lord, we get His Ruach. And if we have Ruach HaKodesh, we are being transformed into Him because He is GOOD (Isaiah 11:2; Romans 8:26; Luke 11:13; Ezekiel 36:26-27).
Ruach HaKodesh uses the scripture we have put into our heart to correct us and to teach us (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is literally the map to level ground. None of the bumps and irregularities can get past the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13). There is nothing hidden, nothing unknown, and nothing that He doesn’t seek to share with you. “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name—that one will teach you all things, and will remind you of everything that I said to you” (John 14:26). Again, the ‘things’ is added for clarity, but the original is punchier. And more true. Ruach HaKodesh is not limited to things. He will teach us ALL. All means all. With that kind of teaching that we can lean into, what are the chances that we’ll stumble? Slim. If we find we’re stumbling – and it can happen to anyone – we will also find we’re not LISTENING.
Level ground. No stumbles (Psalm 91:9-12). Safe in the storm (Matthew 8:24). Nothing to fear or be anxious for because it is all mapped out for us. Smoothed for us. As long as we will acknowledge His lordship in word, heart, and deed; as long as we will make Yahweh our God and keep Him in first place in our lives; as long as we cooperate with Ruach HaKodesh who is GOOD for us; then we will have the flattest ground on which to walk. Ground that prevents damage. Ground that increases the value of our lives. Ground that enables interaction with people at a high level. Ground that makes for equal opportunities for all – no matter where we find ourselves. Level ground is sought after real estate. And WE are gifted it because He is our God, He is our Lord, we follow Him, we obey Him, and we accept teaching and correction from His GOOD Spirit. Amen.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 37:1
“Do not fret because of evildoers; do not be envious of doers of wickedness” Why, oh WHY, do we care about the Joneses? ESPECIALLY when they are wicked? We’re not talking about just ungodly people. We are talking about people who are aware of Adonai and are actively choosing the other team. They are actively opposing Him and trying to get the opposite values into this world for their own benefit. They are playing AGAINST Adonai. They may have stuff and success. Power and influence. They may seem to have people’s lives in their hands. But there is a day coming where they are going to get a VERY short end to a VERY short stick. It is the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord. It is NOT the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17). It is a Day of judgment. A 24hr hour period where Adonai will remove from the Earth those He’s been dealing with, but who have hardened their hearts and totally and COMPLETELY rejected Him to the point they fight Him ON PURPOSE. “Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore be on the alert, because you do not know what day your Lord is coming!” (Matthew 24:40-42). Poof. They will be gone. Do you WANT to go where they are going (Isaiah 2:10-22)? Do you WANT that judgment? We don’t have judgment because we have accepted Jesus’ payment for us. If not, we’d be in the same boat. We accepted it though, so we’re in the boat that gets levels of reward instead of levels of judgment. Why be jealous of a negative? Why be jealous of what we don’t even want? It is a sign of Jesus’ MERCY that they have ANYTHING good in their lives now (James 1:17). It will be gone quick enough, but at least they got to experience some goodness now before the judgment that will make everyone involved weep – especially Adonai. WE get to experience the goodness of Adonai with INTENT. With our eyes OPEN. We get to see His goodness as an active part of our lives. We NEVER have to be like the wicked. We NEVER will have to go through what they are going to go through (Romans 8:1). What a wonderful thing! What a beautiful gift Jesus gave us! What a magnificent mercy we’ve experienced from the Father! What a GOOD God!
Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:
I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
