Fear No Fear

“The Lord has appeared to him from afar, saying: Indeed, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you” (Jeremiah 31:3, MEV). From the Old Covenant to the New, God’s love for us has NEVER been dependent on our performance. Right after Adam sinned and fell, rebelling against God in full knowledge of his disobedience, God made him good clothes. Better coverings than Adam had made. God immediately responded to Adam with LOVE (Genesis 3:21). Jesus also immediately forgave (Luke 23:34-43). The early church forgave (Acts 2:37-38; 10:39-48). No one that was forgiven deserved it. They were none of them godly people in all ways. The Law – kept perfectly in performance, thought, and word – is the standard of Godliness. Only Jesus did it. Everyone else fell short of it and still does (Romans 3:23). It doesn’t matter to God. While we were still enemies of the Lord, THAT is when He died for us (Romans 5:10). That is when He provided us with the Way of salvation (Romans 5:8). God’s love for us is SECURE. It is EVERLASTING. Yes, if we don’t accept Jesus we won’t have life with Him, but it will be because of our choice NOT His lack of love for us. He will cry deeply, heartbroken, for every single person who does not choose Jesus. God loves us. God will ALWAYS love us. It will NEVER change. No matter how we mess up or how we succeed. There is NOTHING that can separate us from His bountiful, eternal, and VERY true love. We might have consequences for what we do, but we will never be turned away when we honestly and fully repent. He loves us SO MUCH. What a GREAT GOD!
