“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him” (Psalm 34:8, MEV). Why is it that when we have a day off, we don’t sit ourselves down somewhere comfortable, open the Word, and spend it interacting with God? I’m not knocking family time or hobbies at all. It seems, though, that a day with God is reserved for ‘church days’ that also seem more like activities than an intimate conversation. God isn’t trying to keep us from enjoying life, but if we’re for forging a relationship with Him we won’t have much of a life to have. Every one of us needs to spend time talking to God. Listening to God. Submitting to and then applying what we hear from God. Nothing is more fun than when we ‘click’ with God. Life really opens up the more we understand and conform our lives to how God says they should be lived. He made us. He knows us. Only He can get us working as we were designed to. It all starts with the forging of a relationship, and that happens one on one in the quiet moments of our days. When you find yourself with time, don’t forget that time with Him should be at the top of our lists.
