Daily Affirmation #143

For the earth bears fruit by itself: first the blade, then the head, then the full seed in the head” (Mark 4:28, MEV). Time is the enemy of miracles. It is a killer of trust. We are so obsessed with time as a species we start to panic when things aren’t near-instant. Now that is God’s best. Every time. Look at the miracles of Jesus. Not a single one took more than a few minutes to an hour to come to pass. We are told we can have the SAME expectation (John 14:12). And there is no reason not to. BUT when we INSIST on it, that’s where the trouble is. Why? The delay is NEVER on God’s side. It is ALWAYS on ours. We can command sickness out, but what is the true and inner belief in the heart of those we are speaking over? If they aren’t ready, nothing will happen. Not until they come into agreement with Jesus, anyway. That’s why you can have greater success praying for the unbeliever or on the mission field (wherever in the world you go) than in your local church or community. They tend to believe what you say when you are demonstrating your belief. Much like when you discuss anything. When you are passionate and committed to what you are saying, others can see that. When YOU really believe, they pick up on that. In a society obsessed with time, we pray for help with this or that, and when the solution doesn’t materialize immediately (no matter how many hearts need to be involved in it), we get discouraged. There is TIME between sowing and reaping. Sometimes that time is near-instantaneous (like it can be with miracles). Sometimes it takes longer (like with the widow who had to pour oil and then sell it – 2 Kings 4:1-7). We don’t know everything else that God is lining up. We don’t know what other hearts He is speaking to. We don’t know what is happening back stage and out of our sight. But He does. We can stand on His promises. Stand on His Word. And then DON’T mix time into the equation. Pray. Praise. Thank Him. And keep thanking Him – fully and totally knowing it is a done deal period full stop – until it physically arrives. Just like a package you purchased and is in the mail. You know it will get to you. Could be delayed. Could be a postal strike. But sooner or later that puppy WILL be at your door. Seed time and harvest. You KNOW God is bringing it. Praise and thank Him until it is brought. Ignore the time. It doesn’t matter at all.
