Ruach HaKodesh “Inheritance Now”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world

Matthew 25:34

There is a wrong way to deal with inheritance. Demand it early. Fight over it. Make it so the other beneficiaries cannot enjoy theirs – even if you feel it was unfairly given. Those are all very human ways of dealing with inheritance. There is also a right way. Wait your turn. You wait until the conditions under which you are allowed to access it arrive. But just because it is an inheritance that is coming down the line, there is often a lot that you can walk in now. Not borrowing against future hope (the wrong way), but enjoying the perks of relationship now.

If I marry into a family of wealth and stature, I am assured of part of the inheritance of that family provided I stay married. My spouse is bound to be given their fair share and I will be a sharer of that share. But I don’t have to wait until some patriarch dies. The inheritance, or rather the evidence of my sharing in that inheritance will start automatically right away. I’ll be associated with the family. My standard of living will increase. I might get a new level of clothes to wear. A new vehicle to drive. A new place to live. It will be as if I was born as part of that family. It will change my life from the moment I am connected to them. First in small ways, later in larger ways – provided that I prove capable of handling it. No one gives a car to someone unable to drive, for example. This is the power of inheritance. It starts right away. It isn’t only a far off thing. The FULLNESS of the inheritance is later, but the association with the inheritance is RIGHT NOW.

Jesus is the bridegroom. We are His bride. The inheritance of Jesus will be ours in fullness in time. But our association with the family starts RIGHT NOW. First in small ways, but in greater and greater ones. And that is the way it’s supposed to work. It’s how discipleship works. We get a glimpse of a little, and then we build on that. Again and again and again. The BLESSING isn’t the little things – bills paid, food in cupboards, roofs over our heads, money in the bank. The BLESSING in the inheritance association that begins the moment you put your hand in Jesus’ hand and say take me. The minute you declare Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour. The inheritance starts RIGHT THEN. And it will grow, stage by stage, as you put more and more of your hand in His. The more we humbly submit, the more we are able to receive. It’s how He renews and strengthens our souls so that we can handle the stuff of this world (3 John 2). Without that strengthened relationship based on our experiential knowledge of Jesus, we can only tread water in this world. And that is NOT what we are meant to do.

We’re meant to be a light. To be a beacon. To show the world that we can HAVE but have WITHOUT the world’s system, the world’s hooks, or the world’s compromises and shortcuts. If you hear of something the world is promising you, Adonai can do it too. Adonai can do it better. And there will be NO strings attached. This is the wonder of the Kingdom. This is the benefit of being part of the family (1 John 3:2). This is part of our inheritance (Isaiah 54:17). This isn’t a prosperity gospel. This isn’t a name and claim. This is Jesus at the center of our lives. Jesus in first place. Jesus being sought and leaned into. And Jesus being our bridegroom. This is being part of the family. Humbly submitted in loving obedience to our place in it, but being part of it nonetheless. We aren’t told to wait and have nothing until Heaven. We’re told to wait until the experiential knowledge of Ruach HaKodesh joins with us, resides in us, and then we’re to use His power, His way, according to His Word, and change, improve, and develop every square inch of this world that we walk upon (Genesis 1:28; 2:8). We’re to tend it, have dominion as careful stewards, and enjoy the fruit of our labour under His direction.

This is inheritance now. Yes, it won’t be in its fullness. No, it won’t be perfect until EVERYTHING is redeemed, perfected, and made new (Revelation 21). But we’re not supposed to be sitting on our thumbs waiting to arrive in Heaven. Heaven is NOW, fellow believer, and we are to walk in every part we are able to. First in spirit and then in truth (3 John 2). And ALL according to what He tells us to say and what He shows us to do (John 5:19; 12:49). We’re to be EXACTLY like Jesus and do EXACTLY what He did (John 14:12). It isn’t always comfortable (1 Peter 2:21-25). But it is OUR right and OUR inheritance and we get to walk in it RIGHT NOW if we’ll only keep our eyes on Jesus.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Matthew 25:23

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You were faithful over a few things; I will put you in charge over many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’” Isn’t it great that we’re given everything that we need to succeed? That there isn’t any guesswork or anxiety involved – unless we make it ourselves? We are given the tools, the resources, and the substance of what we need to do what He has called us to do. Now in this moment. Now in the next place He sends us. Everywhere we are. Every level of our lives. Every provision available for our victory that passes through Jesus and His finished work. It is all right there. Ready for you to take and walk with. It’s work, but it isn’t toil. We have a road map. We have a plan. We have a calling. We only need to do what He says, work the way He says, and we WILL have success. Because He prepared it all for us already. What a GOOD God!
