While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
John 9:5
In Genesis 1:3 Adonai called Light into existence and Light was. It was separate from Adonai, yet it was connected to Adonai. For the first time ever, Jesus chose to walk separate from the Father and be the Light of the World. Before this point, they were together. Separate, but in the same space (as WE think of space) since they are One. Side by side. Intertwined. Here, the Father called Jesus to be not in the exact same space (as WE think of space) because it was time to start walking the ‘physical’ path of what was spiritually accomplished (Revelation 13:8) – still One, but also Triune (we have already seen Ruach HaKodesh One but separate in Genesis 1:2). There was Jesus, being Light for us. Which was good, because there was so Sun yet. The moon had nothing to reflect (if it even existed). There were no stars (other suns in other places). There was no PHYSICAL source of light beyond Jesus. That’s not surprising. Jesus upholds everything by His WORDS (Hebrews 1:3). Science says things worked differently, but the problem is they are looking at a completed system and trying to figure out how the system came to be. But like in a computer program for a video game, Adonai could ‘program’ any element in any order since it would have no meaning until the ‘program’ was started. There Jesus was, being the Light that enabled life.
There is nothing in the Word or in any teaching that says He ever stopped being the Light. Yes, the physical objects of the light that we can perceive with our physical senses came to be (Day Four – Genesis 1:14-19). But Jesus was still there providing Light. It was just that now we could not PHYSICALLY perceive it. That was not an issue because Adam, and then Eve, had SPIRITUAL sight. They were perfect in every way. Walking in FULL dominion and FULL authority and FULL sanctification. They were as we will again be (1 Corinthians 13:12). They could PERCEIVE Him. But at a certain point they chose to REFUSE TO SEE HIM. That’s right. In order to sin, they had to CHOOSE to IGNORE His presence. Adonai is EVERYWHERE. He was THERE when they chose to sin. They were in the same position we are. We do NOT have a sin nature (Romans 6:5-14; Ephesians 2:1-3). We NO LONGER sin by nature (1 John 3:9). When we sin – and we do (1 John 1:8) – we sin ON PURPOSE. And we ONLY manage that by doing what Adam did: REFUSE TO SEE JESUS.
We can PRETEND not to notice Him. You see it with children. And some adults. When someone comes into a room and studiously refuses to look in your direction and then gets very ‘surprised’ when you make yourself known. Oh! they might say, I didn’t SEE you there. They knew you were there, but refused to see you. They wanted to sneak in and sneak out and not have to engage with you. Not have to explain themselves to you. Not have you notice they’re handing in the assignment late, taking Kevin’s lunch from the staff fridge, taking the last can of whatever that was promised to you, or finishing something that was being saved. They’re PRETENDING they were on autopilot. They’re PRETENDING they have no witnesses. They’re PRETENDING they didn’t know better. They’re PRETENDING they’re not misbehaving. They’re REFUSING to see the other person so that they can PRETEND they did no knowing wrong.
Adam claimed Jesus wasn’t there when he chose to sin and was actually tricked by Eve. That he was just going along with the helpmate and companion that Adonai had given him. As if anything that came from her should be fine because Adonai gave her to him to help him. Eve claimed to have been tricked, and it wasn’t her fault. Both of them were trying to say that even though their spirits KNEW that Jesus was the Light that was everywhere and supporting everything, because a PHYSICAL presence wasn’t with them they were in a position to have their trust put in the wrong place. Adam claimed he had trust in the wrong thing because he ASSUMED anything that came from Adonai’s gift would be permissible. Eve claimed she had trust in the wrong thing because she ASSUMED any physical thing that wasn’t bad would be permissible because it was good. Eve WAS tricked (she was not the cause of the Fall – 1 Timothy 2:14), but could ONLY be tricked by REFUSING TO SEE. Adam CHOSE to sin (1 Timothy 2:14; Romans 5:12), but could only convince himself it was a possible action by REFUSING TO SEE. Jesus WAS and IS the Light of the world. He was PERCEIVABLE.
We need to SEE Jesus. We are NOT going to make it as a believer if we do not SEE Jesus. How can we follow if we do not SEE the one leading us? How can we walk in His footsteps if His footsteps are shrouded? It is a necessity to SEE Jesus. He is the ONLY Way that there is (John 14:16). But He KNEW we would lose our spiritual sight. He KNEW that He would sacrifice Himself in our place to pay for sin (period AND personal). He KNEW that in Him, we would regain the ABILITY to SEE Him. Just because we have an ability, however, doesn’t mean that we are going to use it. We are ALL human beings. Males or females. We are CAPABLE of the SAME THINGS. We can ALL train and run a marathon. We can ALL train and lift weights. We can ALL train and swim fast. But we are not all motivated. We are not all willing – I like being fit, but I do not want to go through what someone needs to go through to win championship races. We have the ABILITY to see through our trust in Him (John 3:3, Isaiah 35:5; Hebrews 11:1). If we do not EXERCISE it, it will not strengthen. We will see, but we will see like trees walking (Mark 8:24) – seeing the sights, but not understanding what we see. When Jesus healed that man, his spiritual eyes were opened and he could see EVERYTHING. He had no understanding though. He couldn’t discern what it was and could only guess. Were they men? Were they trees? Jesus prayed again and the man was granted some understanding. It took prayer because Ruach HaKodesh wasn’t given to humanity yet. That didn’t happen until after Jesus rose and kept rising (Luke 24:1-12; Acts 1:6-11, 2:1-4). We are in the same position. We can SEE, but do we PERCEIVE what we see?
Ruach HaKodesh is our guide. Our translator. Our google glasses. He takes what surrounds us and transforms it into a detailed landscape. He points out what we might see, but misconstrue. He shows us the forest AND the individual trees. “I still have many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them now. But when he—the Spirit of truth—comes, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak from himself, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will proclaim to you the things to come. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and will proclaim it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he takes from what is mine and will proclaim it to you” (John 16:12-15). We have been given a prescription of blood-coloured glasses. We can choose to REFUSE them, or we can choose to WEAR them.
It is the difference between accepting Ruach HaKodesh as a guiding personage in our lives or pushing Him away fussing because we’ve decided He is not for us. It is the same as a baby with the food it needs to survive. We can choose to try and live on sugar. On the church-highs. It will rot our walk. We CANNOT sustain it. We will be obese packages unable to function as designed. We cannot blame our DNA, because our DNA is Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). We cannot blame our society, because we’re Jesus’ body (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). We cannot blame our upbringing, because Adonai is our Father (1 John 3:1). If we are not healthy, whole, and functioning as intended (Ephesians 2:1-9), it is because we REFUSED to see Jesus by REFUSING Ruach HaKodesh. It is that simple. It’s why sin is called despising Adonai (1 Samuel 2:30; 2 Samuel 12:14; Jeremiah 23:17; Psalm 106:24).
He is the Light and we have been given the Guide that teaches us HOW to perceive it. How to SEE Jesus. Not just a one-off. But to perceive Jesus as He is ALL THE TIME. Being our Light. Being the Life we need. How He is ALWAYS with us. Do not despise Adonai. Accept that Jesus is everywhere and learn to SEE Him ALWAYS. Ruach HaKodesh is our guide to the abundant LIGHT of our abundant LIFE.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Isaiah 58:11
“And Yahweh will lead you continually, and satisfy your soul in a barren land, and he will strengthen your bones, and you shall be like a well-watered garden, and like a spring of water whose water does not fail.” We are not on our own. Adonai is right there ALL THE TIME to lead us. To give us HIS strength. To HYDRATE our spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). We have not been planted without resources. The resources are under the surface of whatever is going on. It is a spring of sustenance that we have access to 24/7. As we are led, we are satisfied. Whether it is a garden or a desert, we ARE satisfied. Not IF, not MAYBE, not anything. We ARE. If we will simply accept what He is sending into us, we will be satisfied. We can, of course, spit out His nourishment like a baby refusing to eat. We can push it out and let it run down our faces. We can fail and whine and scream. He’ll be sitting there, smiling at us, about to tell us once again ‘here comes the airplane’. He CONTINUALLY leads us. He CONTINUALLY sends ‘the airplane’. He NEVER STOPS. What a GOOD God! Accept it, don’t reject it. Take from Him what He is CONTINUALLY offering so that you WILL be satisfied. He really is a GOOD God!

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
