“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you were born I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5, MEV). What do I do? Which job should I apply for? What classes should I take? Should I move cities? Should I live in that apartment? Should I date that female/male? Should I marry that female/male? People have lost sleep, spent HOURS wrestling with these questions – sometimes days, weeks, or months. Some people never get past them. They seek out advice from friends, parents, relatives, teachers, pastors, and literature from all over the world. The anxiety and grief they cause is REAL. Yet it is all so SILLY. Yes, silly. Because they are EASY questions to answer. WE do not have the answers, but God does. He knew the answers before we were fully formed in the womb. It isn’t that He laid down a static pattern and woe to you if you stray. It’s just that He knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). He knows at any given moment the best step to keep in His will. The Word outlines a LOT of it. And Holy Spirit is there to TALK TO US for what isn’t specifically covered in the Word. We can ASK HIM and get our answers. We can feel TOTAL peace in a decision whether it is logical or seen by others. Because we sought the Lord and we KNOW that we KNOW that we KNOW what He wants. We aren’t searching for a golden ticket to the perfect future – that’s Jesus. We are looking for the step He wants us to take right now. He knows and has ALWAYS KNOWN what is the right move to make. Get into the Word and renew your mind to His way. Learn His point of view. That can cut out SO MANY decisions. When we know and value His morals and His way of living life, we won’t go against it. The Lord isn’t hiding the answers. He’s waiting for you to LISTEN to them. Seek Him, settle in His peace, and walk in His Way. He will make it clear (Psalm 119:105). Reject anxiety. Reject fear. Embrace Him. Don’t let your heart be troubled. Ask, LISTEN, and then walk. The great thing about the Lord is that He is a guider, a leader, a corrector, and will NEVER leave our side. We can have peace in ALL THINGS when we choose to make His presence our guide.
