Daily Affirmation #150

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded” (James 4:8, MEV). To acclimatize to something is to change so that you suit a different condition of life, or climate, or weather pattern, etc. The new thing is foreign and unpleasant, then we acclimatize, and it is fine and we are prepared to function at our best within it. When we acclimatize to wet weather, it is normal to have an umbrella and to wear water resistant clothes. In the same way, if we acclimatize ourselves to the Lord and His Way, the decisions we make there are second nature. They’re normal. In fact, they can help with our decision making process. Take elections. Who do you vote for? The person or the party? Well, when you are attuned with the Lord’s point of view, you aren’t going to vote for anyone or any party that stands for things He says is wrong. In our last election, that meant only one name on the ballot was viable. The Lord didn’t tell me who to vote for, but I knew by stands they and their parties had made that the other candidates were not a good choice. They stood for things the Lord said weren’t acceptable. It made the choice EASY. It’s the same for jobs we take. If we aren’t concerned about the paycheque and look instead to the VALUES of the company and the boss, it is easy to see what not to apply for. Sure, God can tell you to go into enemy territory and be a witness, but that will be a CLEAR word because you’re going to be predisposed to say no. His will is easier to read when we know His values. His presence in our lives brings peace not just in a resting feeling, but in the certainty of our decisions. It is all so simple when we are giving Him place and feeding our values with HIS values. Everything is clear when you’re choosing to walk on HIS side of life’s street.
