Daily Affirmation #151

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed; His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23, MEV). God never runs out. That’s something we need to get into our heads and keep it there right at the front. We are NOT perfect people. We want to do what is right, but we sooner or later give into broken thinking, past habits, and we fall short (1 John 1:8). We are NOT sinners by nature, but we ALL sin in either word, deed, or thought at some point. God is ALWAYS faithful to forgive us when we repent. That’s not a ‘sorry’ and go on. That’s a full turnabout, willing to walk out the consequences, apologizing from the heart to all involved, and getting the Word in us on that subject so that we can renew our minds about it to God’s point of view so much that it becomes OUR point of view. Making that our new value and never choosing to despise Jesus in that circumstance ever again, but instead choosing to trust in Jesus in that instance should it ever come across our path again. Seems like a lot, doesn’t it? That’s what repentance is though. Does God ever get tired of the process? No. Never. Every single time we are truly repentant, He is there to forgive us and walk us through the corrective process hand in hand (1 John 1:9). Every SINGLE day. His mercy NEVER RUNS OUT. It is new EVERY morning. Every single morning a NEW bottomless bag of mercy and compassion opens for us to draw from. This is NEVER a license to sin (Romans 6:1-4). This is a DAILY opportunity to walk a little more like Jesus (1 John 2:6). Going ever forward with the wholeness of our hearts, minds set on Him. Amen.
