“Seek Yahweh and his strength; seek his face continually!” (1 Chronicles 16:11, LEB). This isn’t the first time the Children of Yahweh had heard these words. They are a continual refrain throughout the scriptures. Seek Him. Seek Him. Seek Him. Put Him first. All of the troubles that the Israelites went through – individually and communally – were because they listened to someone else instead of Yahweh. They trusted in someone else instead of Yahweh. They relied on someone else instead of Yahweh. They went through the motions on the Sabbath and during their festivals, but their hearts weren’t seeking Him continually. Nor were they seeking Him WHOLEheartedly. This is a great lesson for us. Because we have the SAME instructions. The SAME warning. Matthew 6:33; Hebrews 11:6; James 4:7-8; Acts 17:26-28; Romans 3:10-11; etc. We need to be focused on Him. In the natural world, when we take our eyes off something, we tend to forget about it. How many of us spend a LOT of time thinking about the people and events on the other side of the world? Not many. We think about them when we hear about them. When we come across some content online. But when it isn’t in front of us, it tends to fade away. Don’t let God fade away. Seek Him right from the moment you open your eyes. Right until the moment you close them. Speak to Him. Sing to Him. Read His Word. Listen to Him. Listen to other people who are teaching about Him. We do a LOT with our lives, but there is ALWAYS time to listen, speak, and praise Him. A man of God once said ‘I rarely pray for more than ten minutes, but I rarely go for for than ten minuted without praying.’ May we ALL learn to live that way. It isn’t a chore. It is a mark of how much God LOVES us and WANTS to spend time with us that we were created with this ability and need to connect. It’s a gift. Don’t throw it away. Lean into it today and every day. It’s SO worth it!
