Ruach HaKodesh “Persistence”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

Now the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters

Genesis 1:2

Waiting in the natural world has a lot to do with patience. Waiting in the spiritual world ONLY has to do with persistence. Ruach HaKodesh is THE Spirit of Adonai and He is a MOVER. Normally, when we are dealing with something that moves around, we would wait for it to come around again. That is patience. But with Ruach HaKodesh, we are to wait WITH Him. We are to move WITH Him. We are to WAIT in the sense of being ready and available, of looking forward expectantly. “Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and is a rewarder of those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). It is a very simple concept.

Which is, of course, why we need help with it. Human beings don’t LIKE simple things because they do not give us room to wiggle in our sin. We don’t LIKE knowing the truth about what is and isn’t godly because it is not OUR standards and OUR opinions that decide it. We LIKE to be our own people. We LIKE to do our own thing. But that kind of thinking is broken and it NEVER makes for a good end. “There is a way that seems upright to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). In Jeremiah 18:12, the men of Judah who had been told to do what is right and obey Adonai responded saying “But they will say, ‘It is hopeless, for we will go after our own plans, and each one of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’” It did not go well with them – they were conquered by the Babylonians and those who weren’t slaughtered were taken into captivity.

We have a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6). We are allowed into the covenant that was made between Jesus and the Father (Hebrews 8:9; Matthew 5:17). Through Jesus, we are part of that covenant (John 15:5). All we need to do is wait on Him. To eagerly expect the Blessings of that covenant as we keep pace with Ruach HaKodesh, hand in hand, walking in His Way, keeping His commandments, and renewing our minds to His point of view. Again, simple, but it can be difficult. It is difficult when we don’t keep our ears cleaned out and tuned to His voice. It is difficult when we don’t keep the Word before our eyes. It is difficult when we don’t rest in Jesus, relying on the Father as our Source in ALL situations and circumstances. Acknowledging Him as the source of every good thing and the provider of not only all our needs but all our godly wants as well. It’s a life of Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! Jesus in the morning, Jesus at midday, and Jesus when the sun goes down. It is ALL about Adonai and NEVER about us. That can be tricky because our flesh is whiny and selfish.

We rely on Ruach HaKodesh for correction as well as the tools to not have to be corrected. If we USE the Fruit of His Spirit, we won’t sin in our attitudes or words to each other. If we USE the Armour of Adonai, we will be focused on truth and reliant on Him. If we STAND on the Word, we have IT to defend ourselves and the devil has NO DEFENCE against the Word. These are all FREE TOOLS that Adonai gives us in His Mercy and Grace. As with most things, if we will LISTEN to Ruach HaKodesh and OBEY what He says, we will find ourselves in step with Him. The more we know Him, the easier it is to live WITH Him instead of for ourselves. The goal is life WITH Jesus, not life AROUND Jesus (Matthew 7:21-23). We were given Ruach HaKodesh so that we will learn to live WITH Jesus. It is THE way to a proper life and it is ours free of charge. We need to listen, listen, and listen some more. Obey, and obey again, and then obey again. Never stopping. Always reading the Word, listening to teaching. This is ‘always’ meaning no days off. This is ‘always’ meaning this is your bread and your water that keeps you alive and functioning (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). PERSISTENTLY being CONSISTENT in seeking Him – for advice, for help, and for the opportunity to praise Him. Looking for HIS presence foremost in our minds, not our thinking. Why have a teacher, guide, corrector, and instructor if we’re not going to avail ourselves of Him?

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Romans 12:12

rejoicing in hope, enduring in affliction, being devoted to prayer,” No one likes being ghosted. Some people have severe mental reactions to it – to the point of needing mental health days and therapy. It is a serious thing. Well, Jesus went back to heaven (Acts 1:6-11), but He didn’t ghost us. He gave us the ultimate connection (John 16:1-15). He gave us someone who we can always rejoice in. He gave us someone who is INSIDE us during ALL troubles – easily contacted, listened to, and relied on. He gave us a way to pray even when we don’t know how to (Romans 8:26-27). We have been given all the tools we need to KNOW we are connected, to FEEL connected IN OUR SPIRITS, and to BE connected in every way we possibly can. He does it because He loves us. He does it because He doesn’t EVER want to lose contact with us. And He does it because He CAN. What a GOOD God!
