“And look, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49, MEV). We were meant to do things (Ephesians 2:10). We were meant to steward this Earth with authority and dominion, making it the best version of itself possible (Genesis 2:8; 1:27-28). When you are given a job or a mission – by anyone – you can easily get into sticky situations. You can dive in and run with it and later find out you can’t swim or ran poorly in the wrong direction. It isn’t enough to have a CALL. We need to have training. We need to have ability. We need to have a path to follow. You know something? God gives us all of that. Jesus spent three years discipling men and women but He would NOT let them head into the world without power and guidance for that power. He told them to stay, to seek God, and wait until they had what they needed. And they did. They were there until we see in Acts 2 that they were gathered together seeking God. They received power. That power came with built in guidance because the power is our teacher, guide, leader, corrector, confidant, and comforter (Holy Spirit). God doesn’t leave you on your own. God wants you to succeed. He does NOT want you to fall on your face. He does NOT want you to embarrass yourself (I’m speaking of shame). He wants GOOD things for you. And He GIVES us the power we need to succeed in what He calls us to. What a GOOD God!
