Fear No Fear

“Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might shake at Your presence, as when the melting fire burns, as the fire causes the waters to boil, to make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence! When You did awesome things for which we did not look, You came down; the mountains quaked at Your presence” (Isaiah 64:1-3, MEV). The Israelites saw some of this. The Lord God came down on Sinai in Saudi Arabia and they heard His voice. They saw His lightnings. They saw the cloud of His glory. Their response? They begged Moses not to make them listen to God anymore (Exodus 20:19). They were convinced it would kill them. Even Moses was afraid of the demonstration of God’s presence (Hebrews 12:21). Yet He has given us His presence to dwell inside of us (1 Corinthians 3;16). And we still worry about bills. We still get all hepped up about that person at work trying to sabotage us. We still get concerned about the neighbours. That teacher. That boss. That friend. That co-worker. What so and so said. The level of food in the cupboards. Oh, how we lose sight of who is with us. If He chose to demonstrate His presence, it could melt our walls. It could rock our neighbourhood and tumble the trees and houses over. We say that He created the universe. But have you LOOKED at the universe? If He MADE it, fashioned it through His Word (John 1:3), doesn’t that make Him pretty great? Powerful? Able to do things? Able to overcome things? Yet our petty little problems take up such a large space on the shelf of our mind. WHY?? Why do we let them? He has given us His presence! He dwells inside of us! He is WITH US! What can humanity do to us? Really? NOTHING! We have the Great God of All Things on our side. I AM. The Pre-existent One. The Beginning. The Ending. THAT is who is with us. MORE THAN ENOUGH. We need to keep who He is in our mind. We need to never forget. He IS. Nothing else will EVER be enough to topple that. And if WE are in HIM as HE is in US, then WHO can stand against that? God’s glory will be in our lives, saturate them, and bring Him even more glory. Nothing can stop that. Nothing at all! He is with us and He will NOT leave us! What a GREAT God!
