Daily Affirmation #165

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” For my brothers and companions’ sake, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good” (Psalm 122:6-9, MEV). I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Not for the actions of the government. Not for the actions of the military. For the peace of Jerusalem. That includes wisdom for the government and their leaders. That includes protection, wisdom, and guidance for their military – the leadership and the people on the ground facing the situations head on. But mostly I pray for the symbol of the city of that nation which is God’s Chosen People. I look forward to the time when people will flock to Jerusalem in order to worship the Lord. I look forward to the time when the whole world will point at Israel with wonder and awe saying ‘Look what the Lord has done for them!’ I pray for the health, the safety, and the wealth of His city. I do not speak against Israel even if I don’t agree with everything they do (Genesis 12:2-3). Great things will happen when the people of God come together in unity – first the Jew and then the Gentile. I pray for peace for Jerusalem and all who associate with her. For all the people caught up in the situation there. And I thank the Lord for His glory that will be revealed for His hand IS on the situation, the nation, and the people. I thank the Lord and I pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Amen.
