And a leper approached and bowed low before him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” He stretched out his hand and touched him saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Matthew 8:2-3 (emphasis added)
Jesus doesn’t change. I am so grateful for that. As the prayer of the consistently righteous has both value and power (Proverbs 15:29), the prayers of Jesus advocate for us constantly (1 John 2:1). More than that, Jesus’ whole attitude is consistent and reliable. And it points to the Father’s consistency because Jesus ONLY did and ONLY said what the Father told and showed Him to. Jesus didn’t need to rehearse. Jesus didn’t need to figure out how to phrase things. The Father spoke to Him through the Spirit and guided His every word, phrase, motion, and action. Since Jesus only did as He was directed – being humbly submitted to the Father’s will (Luke 22:42; John 5:30) – we can see in Jesus the will of the Father.
The Father WILLS our healing. Jesus WILLS our healing. The Ruach HaKodesh is the path through which the power of healing flows (Romans 8:11) and He ALSO WILLS our healing. The entire Trinity WILLS our healing. Why don’t we? Why aren’t we submitting to His Will in this area? We let ourselves get corrected when it comes to lying, adultery, jealousy, modesty, sexual immorality, and even speeding. Why won’t we let ourselves be corrected when it comes to healing? We can’t say we don’t know Elohim’s will, because Jesus showed it to us. “I am willing. Be clean!” Jesus (and Elohim) is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Jesus was willing to submit and be spiritually slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8) so that healing was available through the Father’s trust (Mark 11:22) until Jesus was physically slain having fulfilled the Law in all ways (2 Corinthians 5:21). Healing is now available to ALL through trust in Jesus because healing was released through the cross (Matthew 8:16-17; 1 Peter 2:24). Was, Is, Always Will Be.
THAT is the Will of the Father. It is KNOWN. It isn’t hidden. It isn’t confusing. It isn’t a mystery. It is plain. It is consistent. It is unchangeable. It is trustworthy.
A man with a visible problem came to Jesus for help. he didn’t come for a job. He didn’t come for money. He didn’t come for advice. He didn’t come for a pat on the back. He didn’t come for a high holiday. He didn’t come because it was expected. He didn’t come because it was popular. He didn’t come because he didn’t know what Jesus could do. But he came with the question that the modern church has picked up. IF you are willing you CAN heal me. He had trust in the ABILITY of Jesus, but not in the TEMPERAMENT of Jesus. Temperament is characteristic or habitual inclination or mode of emotional response. Sounds fancy, right? It is simply the things that we are known to commonly do because of who we are inside. The things we do are coloured with our emotions. This man knew the stories of what Jesus COULD do, but he did not know who Jesus WAS.
Jesus NEVER refused to heal anyone. Jesus NEVER had a conversation where He wanted someone to stay sick, injured, diseased, oppressed, or possessed for ANY reason. Jesus does NOT think you have a better testimony serving Him, worshipping Him, and ministering for Him while injured in ANY way. Jesus does NOT put sickness, injury, oppression, disease, anxiety, mental disorders, or anything in order to help you reach out to others. Negative conditions do NOT give you a better testimony. Negative conditions do NOT help you in ANY way. Jesus can use ANYONE ANYWHERE they are. He meets us where we are. But we HAVE to get it through our heads that it is WE who limit our healing, not Adonai. HIS BEST is total, instantaneous, and complete restoration of body, soul, and spirit. Period. ANYTHING ELSE is US settling in some way. That is TRUTH and is borne out in many scriptures ESPECIALLY in today’s.
Adonai is LOVE. He’ll heal us in whatever way and to whatever degree that we will let Him. He will help us in the other areas too. He’ll guide us to tools. He’ll guide us to medical professionals. He’ll show us ways to cope while He helps to teach us about all that He can do for us if we let Him. He doesn’t judge us. He gets sad, but He isn’t mad. Don’t YOU get sad when your kids settle for less than they could have? Of course you do. But you smile and love on them anyway. Our Father in Heaven does the same thing. He smiles and helps in every way we let Him. But it isn’t EVER His will for us to be less than whole with nothing missing and nothing broken. He’s given us a MINIMUM of 120 years of full health with full faculties and no deterioration (Psalm 91:16). That’s no canes, no glasses, and no lessening of our physical capacity. His Spirit is constantly giving us life in our mortal bodies to make sure we CAN have that (Romans 8:11). We have to be wise in our stewardship, but it IS possible. It’s His WILL. “Moses was 120 years old when he died, but his eye was not dull nor had his vitality departed” (Deuteronomy 34:7). Adonai is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). What Moses had WE can have.
When we accepted Jesus’ life and got saved, the Father washed away our sin with Jesus’ blood. Washed. Gone. As if they NEVER HAPPENED. Jesus wants to do the same with our sickness. Our disease. Our conditions (mental, emotional, or physical). He wants to wipe them away with His blood. The blood He shed when He was whipped. The blood He shed when they were ripping out His beard. The blood He shed when they inserted thorns into His flesh. The blood He shed when they beat Him with rods. The blood He shed when they nailed Him to the wood. The blood He poured on the Mercy Seat. This blood is POWERFUL stuff. It renews. It restores. It makes the unclean clean. From the DNA on up. It MELTS disease and sickness away. It makes ALL THINGS new (Revelation 21:5).
Jesus ministry was about healing. Healing us physically. Healing us spiritually. Healing our relationship with the Father. Healing our relationship with each other. Healing the WHOLE PERSON. Each and every one of us that come to Him with the willingness to receive what it is His NATURE to give. He has ALREADY given it. Will you receive? Will you help others receive? He WILLS it. Do you?
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Song of Solomon 5:16
“His mouth is very sweet; he is totally desirable. This is my beloved! This is my companion, O maidens of Jerusalem!” The Messiah is the altogether lovely One. The Song of Songs is a prophetic picture of our relationship with the Father. The way we enter into that relationship was going to be Messiah. Messiah was the sweet one of Adonai. Messiah was the desirable one of Adonai. The one through whom we would enter into a new covenant – walking in the reality of the fulfilled old covenant. A covenant between Messiah and Adonai. “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Jesus was the fulfilment of the Law (Matthew 5:17-18). Jesus was the Way into the presence of Adonai (John 14:6). Jesus IS the Messiah!
