Daily Affirmation #167

Then God said, “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is on the face of all the earth and every tree which has fruit yielding seed. It shall be food for you” (Genesis 1:29, MEV). This is not a post about food or food choices. I am going to use food choices to explore another point. What food choices? Healthy ones. The human body was designed to eat a diet of fruit, nuts, and greens. Every plant that produced seeds in order to propagate itself. Every tree that produced seeds to propagate itself. There are approximately 300,000 seed bearing plants, and anywhere from 1,000 to 250,000 trees (depending on type). Together they make up to 200,00 to 400,000 seed-bearing (categorized as depending on their seeds) in two basic plants: angiosperms and gymnosperms. This also includes some flowers. The numbers are VERY estimates because there are millions of plants that produce seeds but don’t depend on their seed attributes to continue as a species. The point is, though, that there are LOTS of plants that can be consumed by humans. But we tend to lump them all as ‘rabbit food’ and disdain those who prefer to consume them and not animal products. Yet we know from physical evidence and from science that it is the VASTLY healthier choice of food – even taking into consideration moderation. So why don’t we mostly or entirely eat only plants? We don’t WANT to. That’s right. Take all the healthy, meant to/not meant to, science say this/that away and it becomes a personal choice. We don’t WANT to. We don’t CARE that it’s healthier, we LIKE what we like. Spiritually, we tend toward the same behaviour. God tells us something is right and good or wrong and ungodly. We obey based on what WE think and what WE feel about it. Whether or not we WANT to. This is not how we should be approaching God. God knows best. God is ONLY about our goodness and Blessing us. God ONLY gives good things. He is NEVER the author of a negative. We need to see His point of view that way. It is VERY important. Yes, having Him guide our lives must be a matter of trust and belief, but it will get us to where we’re going helping the maximum number of people along the way. He is a GOOD God. He seeks to Bless and not harm us. We need to ditch our spiritual ‘rabbit food’ bias and eat the meal HE provides us (3 John 2). Every time. That is what we are meant to do. That is what is best for us. We might not FEEL like it, but praising and thanking the Lord can change our feelings and make it easier for us to ‘swallow’. Obey the Word. Obey the Lord. Connect to the Vine and ALWAYS be satisfied. Amen.
