Daily Affirmation #168

They said, “Men of Galilee, why stand looking toward heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you to heaven, will come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”” (Acts 1:11, MEV). Jesus as God is perfect and patient. Jesus as a man is IMPATIENT. Twelve years old and trying to start doing what He’s supposed to do (Luke 2:49). About thirty years old, given the opportunity to really get down and teach a whole town, but He insisted on leaving and hitting all the other towns (Mark 1:38). The people needed to hear it. Everyone needed to hear it. Impatient. He was resurrected to life and couldn’t wait. He left the tomb before the stone was rolled away. God had to send an angel down so we could get in and see the proofs (Matthew 28:2). Talked to us before He saw the Father (John 20:17). Left, but told us He was coming SOON (John 14:28). And when He went up, the angels wondered at how they were still looking up into the sky. They KNEW Jesus. They’d been watching and paying attention. They knew He was coming back. And soon. And the same way He left. They KNEW Him. We are stuck in the time stream. We are stuck in the NOW. It’s easy to think Jesus isn’t coming back soon because we see the weight of history behind us. We see time as having passed us and built up thousands of years behind us. But we are in the NOW and Jesus is in the SOON. They are going to meet. It will NOT be long. And we need to tell people to be ready. To get excited. Jesus is IMPATIENT to return. He’s coming SOON (Revelation 22:7). He loves us too much to stay way. He’s coming SOON (Revelation 22:12). He’s being held back because He’d come running with arms open wide in a second. He’s coming SOON (Revelation 22:20). He is tired of being apart. Face to face. Eye to eye. He can’t wait. He loves us so! Every one of us human beings. He LOVES us.
