Ruach HaKodesh “Rememberer”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for eternity! Amen.

Romans 11:36

Have you ever been anywhere with a young child? Oh, the words. So. Many. Words. Look at this. Look at that. ‘Do you see that purple piece of that weird building over there by that green tree? It reminds me of that other piece of blue that was on that car that we saw over by the trees in the park with the swing that I like because it’s fast and can we go to the park?’ They make connections between everything they see and everything they have seen before. Or they need to know what the thing is, what it does, what it might do, and if we’ll see it again. They remember the minutest details, while often missing the big picture. They are rememberers, but they aren’t fully functioning.

Remembering is a great form of praise. “And he took bread, and after giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”” (Luke 22:19). When we attach a memory to an object, the object takes on significance to us. This is why we tend to hoard things that are attached to good memories. Those bundles of love letters in the attic. The box of baby clothes at the back of your closet. The trinkets and the little gifts that dot your house. We hang onto them long after we are actively using them. Because when we DO see them, they bring us a wave of nostalgic beauty. A waft of mental perfume, embodying all the best of all the past wrapped up in that thing.

Imagine getting to a point where no matter what you pointed to in your home, you could connect it to a story (short or long) of how Adonai provided it for you. The job He got you that enabled you to buy it. The debt He guided you through so you could afford it. The nudge that got you into a particular shop on a particular day. The people He brought into your life. The unexpected gift. Maybe even the home itself, something He arranged that could be done no other way. There are a thousand ways and a thousand reasons for these things to be in our lives and our homes – or having a home or vehicle at all. Adonai is behind every single one of them. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of change” (James 1:17). This is an important aid to us, because when we work to do that, we get to a place where we only need to look around at any room of our home to be flooded with memories of how good Adonai is to us. The feelings of love and appreciation and genuine thankfulness flood us as we see what Adonai has done for us. They are also a great witness to anyone who visits our home because we know what Adonai will do for one person He can and is willing to do for another (Romans 2:11).

Ruach HaKodesh is like that young child. He is constantly pointing to things in our lives and whispering to us about what Adonai has done for us. Do we remember this? Do we remember that? That thing there? Remember what happened that day. How Adonai arranged that meeting. How those people blessed you because Adonai wanted to see your smile. How the finances came together in no logical way. Look what Adonai has done for you. Look what Adonai has done. It is a gateway into a praiseful attitude. One that is important because it helps to build our trust in Adonai. If Jesus will do all of this, why wouldn’t He do all of that? If the Father cares enough to handle this, we KNOW that He will handle that. If He loves us and keeps us safe through all the situations and trials getting to this place, we KNOW He will keep us safe and love us through anything that is coming. The BEST part is it doesn’t matter where we are in our journey. Having very little or having a lot makes no difference. When Adonai has provided what you HAVE, you KNOW He will provide what you need in the future. He is FAITHFUL. How can you NOT trust someone like that?

Listen to the reminders of Ruach HaKodesh. Let yourself take a moment to get lost in the remembering. He is good to us. So, SO good to us. Don’t let yourself forget it. Don’t let yourself ignore it. Don’t take it for granted. Look what Adonai has done! Look at what Adonai has done! Thank Him for it. Praise Him for it. Anytime you get discouraged. Anytime you get weary. Anytime you feel overwhelmed. Anytime you don’t feel His presence. Remember what Adonai has done. Look at what Adonai has done. He is worthy of trust. Worthy of belief. Worthy of remembrance. Look what Adonai has done for you. Praise Him! Let you remembering be the handle on the door to your praisey place. Let His love flow in as your love flows to Him. It’s a WONDERFUL way to live your every day.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Consistency in relationships is being dependable and reliable. It is open and honest communication. It is not changing your personality when situations come up. It is not acting erratically or being someone your partner can’t rely on. It is simply keeping your word and not using words frivolously. Adonai is consistent. From Genesis to Revelation His plan doesn’t change. His goals don’t change. His personality doesn’t change. How WE react to Him and how WE respond to Him and how WE see Him changes, but HE is consistent. There is such security in that. We KNOW we can depend on Him. We KNOW we can believe Him. We KNOW what He will say about things because the Word shows us. We KNOW He will keep His Word. He will keep His promises. He will not lie. Ever. He backs up His words with correct actions. He stays in CONSTANT contact with us through Ruach HaKodesh. He is clear, concise, and up front. He isn’t confusing. He isn’t teasing. He is simple in how He explains things. He lets US decide, and encourages us in all the right directions. He is understanding while not changing His standards. He supports, encourages, and guides us. He is CONSISTENT. He is almighty. He is righteous. And He has opened the door to us in and through Messiah Jesus. What a GOOD God!
