Ruach HaKodesh “Night Whispers”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

For your husband is your maker, his name is Yahweh of hosts; and your redeemer is the holy one of Israel, he is called the God of all of the earth

Isaiah 54:5

It’s easy to forget who our spouse is. The issue is that we grow. We grow into the role of mother and/or provider. We grow into the role of father and/or provider. We develop in our career or work environment. We grow in our friend groups. We can become mentors. But at the end of the day, when we are alone together. When our world is silent and the lights are out and your partner sleeps beside you. Whose breath do you hear? Do you remember this is the same person you first met? In spite of the growth. In spite of development. Do you realise they are still that person? They’re looking for the same things. They haven’t transformed into MOTHER or FATHER. They are the same person and still looking for the same kind of love and companionship they did way back whenever.

We are the Bride of Messiah. Jesus is our Bridegroom. But much too often we act like it is some arranged marriage between two families who live very far apart. Like we’ve never met. We act like we have forgotten who He is. Elohim? Yes. Lord and Saviour? Yes. Triumphant ruling Messiah coming to conquer? Yes. But also a man. A man seeking His bride. Desperate to hear a ‘yes’. To bring her into His home and start a life together. To start being an US not a YOU AND ME. Ruach HaKodesh is the night whisperer. That still small voice speaking into our ears that Jesus loves us. That He wants us. That it isn’t a dream. It isn’t a prank. We aren’t going to be hurt. We aren’t going to be left at the altar. That this is a Ruth and Naomi, not a David and Michel.

Jesus came out of love. The Father let Him come out of love. Ruach HaKodesh is here out of love. Jesus isn’t broken. Jesus isn’t sick. Jesus isn’t dying. Jesus isn’t scared. Jesus isn’t struggling to keep/hold His place. Jesus isn’t threatened. Jesus isn’t in danger of failing. Jesus isn’t lacking anything. Jesus is LIFE. He came to bring us that. It’s called salvation. Salvation includes all of that. Because He loves us. Not because we deserved it (Romans 5:8). Because He loves us. That is so easy to forget in the face of who He is in position. When we stand as we are looking at His total righteousness, it’s easy to forget that He came from love. Just as it is easy to forget how much power Adonai has until you watch a lightning shower, a volcano erupting, or a hurricane swirling the ocean. All those are FAR BELOW what He can do ANY TIME. But we forget He can do all that when we’re being attacked. We forget WHO and WHAT He IS.

He is Elohim Almighty. Yahweh. The Splitter of Seas. The Bringer of Fire. The Flooder of the Earth. The Saviour. The Redeemer. The One to whom governments and nations bow. The Walker in the Flames. The Closer of Mouths. The Provider. The Flattener of Walls. The Name Above ALL Names. The Living One. The Hanger of Planets. The Singer of Songs. The Righteous One.

He is also our gentle lover. The whisperer in dark places. The bringer of light. The loving Father. The joyful companion. The patient teacher. The gentle corrector. The teacher of wisdom. The comforting embrace. The faithful friend. The eager betrothed. The consistent guide. The encourager. The blesser. The ever-present help. The healer.

He is both of those categories. At the same time. And that is NOT an exhaustive list. Everyone is all stressed out with what is happening on this planet. I understand that. I WOULD be the same way, BUT I am being constantly shown by Ruach HaKodesh who Jesus is. I don’t always listen – which is when I have problems instead of situations. But He doesn’t stop talking to me. Because I don’t get moved by verses. I shouldn’t get moved by what’s happening. True movement happens by the Ruach of the Living God (Zechariah 4:6). Adonai is the ONLY way by which ANYTHING is going to happen. But if I lose sight of who He IS, I won’t know it. I’ll start seeing Him in just one way, instead of who He is. If I can’t see who He is, I won’t engage with that. If He is the provider of salvation of my inner self and nothing else, I won’t get healed. I won’t see lack end. I won’t have solutions for my relationships, children, workplace, or home. I’ll have to beg for help from Him (or somewhere else) because I have forgotten who He is.

Ruach HaKodesh is the voice in the night. The reminder at a time when everything else is shut down. The constant train of thought of WHO Adonai is. Of WHAT Adonai has done. Of WHAT Adonai WILL DO – if we cooperate with Him. The message – backed up throughout scripture – that we can be like Him. That we DO NOT have to wait until we take off the meat suit. We can START RIGHT NOW. We can be victorious down here on Earth the same way Jesus was. We can’t do it in ourselves, but we CAN in Him (John 15:5). Ruach HaKodesh is here – among other things – to make sure we hear that. All the time. All day long. All night long. When we refuse to listen. When we’re distracted. And when we are alone and quiet and have nothing else going on in our minds.

Jesus LOVES us. Jesus DIED for us. Jesus PROVIDES for us. Jesus is HERE for us. Jesus is our LOVER. Jesus is our HEALER. Jesus is our EVERYTHING. And in and through Jesus we can crawl into the lap of ALMIGHTY ELOHIM MOST HIGH and be with our LOVING FATHER. Don’t forget. He LOVES you. He IS Lord and Saviour whom we humbly submit to. But we do it from and in LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. He LOVES you. Always has. Always will. Don’t forget it.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 127:1-2

Unless Yahweh builds a house, its builders labor at it in vain. Unless Yahweh guards a city, a guard watches in vain. It is in vain for you who rise early and sit late, eating the bread of anxious toil, when thus he provides for his beloved in his sleep.’” The contractor with all the plans, all the equipment, all the supplies, and all the know how. Not just building a dream house, but a dream LIFE. Not something based on things, money amounts, location, or social standing. But a life full of LIFE. Full of relationship. Full of victory in Him. Full of praise and worship and joy and laughter and love and humble obedience. Watching over us. Planning for us. Encouraging us. Showing us the plans. The next steps. Correcting us. Hand in hand helping us toddle around. Feeding us. Hydrating us. Showing us THE point of view. THE Truth – objective, consistent, and constant. Showing us what is over the horizon. Engaging us face to face. Even as we sleep, getting all that we need. Safety. Security. Not on OUR level, but on HIS level. What a GOOD God!

Your Daily Confession of Elohim’s Goodness:

I taste and see that Yahweh is good; I am blessed because I take refuge in Him.
