Ruach HaKodesh “Veto”

(All scripture from Lexham English Bible, Copyright 2012 Logos Bible Software)

The mind of a person will plan his ways, and Yahweh will direct his steps.

Proverbs 16:9

In order to be a successful entrepreneur, you need to learn the art and the skill of writing an effective business plan. You need to know how to present it. Are you dealing with an investor or a lender. Do you have all the information they need to make an informed decision? Have you looked at all the angles, balanced your projected cash flow, and made sure to explain how this business will fill a need and grow its customer base? It’s a lot to have in mind and frequently gets tweaked along the way. It can also be totally renovated once investors are truly interested. They have the veto power because it’s their money you want to play with. Often, they can see things from new angles and spot problems that they have seen before.

Ruach HaKodesh was given to us as a counsellor, teacher, and guide (John 14:26). He is an investor in the ‘business’ of making us the best version of us we can be at EVERY stage along our journey into being like Jesus (1 John 2:6). This is NOT His first time around the block. He has interacted with literally MILLIONS of people throughout the course of human history. He has seen how every action we take plays out. He IS Elohim. He can tell us where we have it wrong, where we have it right, and how to improve everything to make it run as smoothly as it can. We are not lost in the darkness, stumbling around. It isn’t like we’re on our way to the bank without a financial advisor. Everything that we need to operate and everything we need to achieve Adonai’s goals for us is right there in our renewed and perfected spirit. Ruach HaKodesh is our instructor on how to get it out and functioning in our life. “For to us God has revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man that is in him? Thus also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, in order that we may know the things freely given to us by God, things which we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. Now the spiritual person discerns all things, but he himself is judged by no one. “For who has known the mind of the Lord; who has advised him?” But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:10-16).

It is good for us to make plans. For us to be thinking of where we want to go and what we want to do. But we should NOT move until we’ve checked in with Adonai. Until we’ve submitted the plan to Ruach HaKodesh and given Him a chance to weigh in on it. Things could be good. Very good. But a GOOD idea isn’t enough. We need GOD ideas to flourish. Sometimes it’s not even the PLAN that is the issue, but the TIMING. We don’t know. HE does. There is nothing like being in the perfect will of Adonai. We CANNOT be that without listening to what He says, hearing what He says, and then obeying what He says – no matter what the situation looks like to us (Job 34:21; Isaiah 46:10; 2 Corinthians 4:18).

Sometimes, it is a simple thing. Like choosing when to go to bed. Don’t we all juggle time to get done all we want? Or to maximize our time in slumber? Since we cannot see the future, we don’t know if a young child will disturb our sleep. We don’t know if we’ll get locked into doom scrolling and forget the passage of time. We don’t know if there will be an early morning emergency call from work. We don’t know ANY of the mystery unknowns that can crop up – natural, supernatural, or whatever. But HE does. What about a trip home? Choosing the route you’ll drive or which public transit you take? Which Uber ride to accept and which to pass on? Ruach HaKodesh knows what is best for us and for other people. He sees ALL the threads, not just the one or two ropes we’re hanging onto. He can TOTALLY be trusted, and the MORE we trust in Adonai, the simpler our lives become. He’s not trying to CONTROL us, He’s trying to get us to cooperate with HIM so that we ALL get to the finish lines that are set for us (2 Timothy 4:7). We won’t make all of it – everyone misses it sometimes – but that isn’t the point. The point is to continue moving forward and keep seeking His face. Keep seeking His will. Keep allowing Him the veto. In love and obedience, humbly submitted to Him. Not in bitterness and resentment. We’re not trying to get Adonai to okay our wants. We’re trying to find out HIS wants and cooperate with Him to get them done. HIS will, not ours. We can plan, but HE needs to be our director.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: John 8:12

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” Jesus has been the light of this world since day ONE (Genesis 1:3; John 1:9) – the sun has only been our light since day four (Genesis 1:14). Jesus wants to remain being our light. He doesn’t want to see us in shadow. He doesn’t want to see us in darkness. He doesn’t want us ignorant. He doesn’t want us sick, lost, or dying. He came so that we could enjoy life, work for His glory, and have all the victorious success that He did on Earth – spreading the Gospel message until every single human being has had the chance to make the choice of trusting Jesus or not. This is what it’s all about. Bringing life and light. More and more and more. Making us shine with His glory within us like the angels shine with His reflected glory. Turning the world and the universe(s) into nothing but goodness and light. He is doing it. We are cooperating. And we have SO MANY Blessings while we do. He truly guides us in light – helping us to see every obstacle and benefit LONG before we step or trip on them. All WE need to do is to listen and then to obey. How simple! How provided for we are. He really is the best. What a GOOD God!
