Daily Affirmation #182

“Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying:” (Ezekiel 33:1, MEV). The Lord speaks to us ALL the time. Holy Spirit is THE small, still voice inside of us. He can also be a rushing wind and a trumpet inside of us. But He is ALWAYS there and ALWAYS speaking. God is NEVER silent. Why does He SEEM silent at times? Could be a lot of things. Usually it is one of two things. First, WE aren’t listening. We are not taking the time to be thankful, to be worshipful, and to align ourselves with the presence of God which is ALWAYS around us (Hebrews 13:5). Second, we didn’t OBEY. If we are told something from the Lord, we need to submit to it. He isn’t making suggestions. He is speaking TRUTH. He’s not making it hard for us, He is simply speaking truth and expecting us to line ourselves up with it (Matthew 11:28-30). If we don’t, we’re not going to get the next piece of the conversation. It isn’t that the Lord stopped speaking – He is still 100% on the line – rather, it’s OUR TURN to speak. To speak obedience. To speak humble submission. To speak gratitude, regardless of personal FEELING. We get our feelings into line and move forward with emotions based on our character in Jesus (Galatians 5:22-23). A perceived silence is often a pause to allow us to do. God NEVER severs or rearranges the open channel He has from His Spirit to ours. It is ALWAYS us who have blocked it, ignored it, or shifted away from it. But, praise God, He doesn’t let us go. We KNOW His voice (John 10:4) and Holy Spirit uses that to remind us about that thing we need to do, acknowledge, or ruminate about (John 14:26). If you’re hearing silence, put some praise into it. Do your share of the talking so that you can listen better.
