Fear No Fear

“He blessed Joseph and said, “God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who fed me all my life long to this day,” (Genesis 48:15, MEV). Jacob was NOT a perfect man. He did NOT make all good decisions. He flubbed it. He missed it. He was a regular person. But he recognized something that not everyone recognizes. He recognized that ALL HIS LIFE God shepherded him. God was his provider. Jacob connected to God NOT on his performance, but on his RELIANCE. He had to learn to rely on God as his SOURCE and he passed that acknowledgement and advice to his son. It is also passed onto us, the believers in the New Covenant. We interact with the covenant NOT based on our performance, but based on JESUS’ performance. We rely on JESUS for everything we have and everything we need. God made a Way for us to be part of their Father-Son covenant. They didn’t leave it up to us. They FINISHED it, ACCOMPLISHED it, and SEALED it up in, through, and by Jesus. When we look to Him as our Source and He looks to His Father as His Source, we can enter into it with Him. Like a shepherd with his sheep, Jesus and the Father arranged things to our benefit. They guide us and lead us and correct us to ensure that we walk in the centre of the Way Jesus made open to us. We get what Jesus’ deserves, NOT what WE deserve. What a GREAT reason to magnify our Saviour’s name. He did it all, and He did it for US.
