“Keep my commandments and live, and my teaching as the apple of your eye” (Proverbs 7:2, MEV). The pupil of the eye controls how much light comes into your retina. Your retina take that light and converts it to electricity. Those electric signals enter your brain, which turns them into images. That is how we see. The apple of your eye refers to the pupil of your eye. The teaching of the Lord enables us to see. More teaching, more sight. Less teaching, less sight. God told us to keep His Word continually in front of our eyes (Joshua 1:8). He wanted to make sure we had a way to ALWAYS see what is really going on. To ALWAYS see the truth. To ALWAYS see the godly choice. No matter the situation, no matter who was involved, God would ALWAYS have a way to show you what you needed to know (John 14:26). God wrote the book. God assembled the teaching. God is prepared to constantly talk about it to us. God has enabled many teachers to help expositate it to us. God makes clear to us the layers upon layers of meaning, instruction, and guidance the Word provides (2 Timothy 3:16-17). If we will keep it in front of our eyes, if we will continue to pay attention to it on a daily basis, He will flood us with His Light and help us to see Him and the Kingdom clearly. When you have the light of obedience meeting the Light of Revelation, there is nothing that we can’t see!
