Fear No Fear

“All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established” (Proverbs 16:2-3, MEV). We always ‘know’ we’re right. I mean, we’ve thought about it. Planned for it. And viola! there it is in all its glory. Success. Right? But human thinking is FAR below God’s thinking (Isaiah 55:8-9). It is only in and through Jesus that we have access to His mind (1 Corinthians 2:16). God doesn’t just look at the idea, but the effects of the idea and how we will interact with it, react to it, and how it will effect everyone around us. He is a BIG PICTURE looker. We’re barely seeing a single colour in a single corner. No matter how GOOD an idea it is, if it isn’t a GOD idea (which means His idea in His timing), it won’t be anywhere near as successful – if it is successful at all. We’re silly children playing in the mud, really. But if we want to graduate from mud pies to international chains of confectionery treats, we need HIS thinking. He knows that, and made a Way for us to get His thinking on ANY and EVERY issue. Much like we committed our LIVES to Him in accepting salvation, we can commit our THINKING to Him. If we entrust ALL WE DO to Adonai, our plans will achieve success because they will be HIS plans walked out in OUR lives. We know we can cast our cares onto Him (1 Peter 5:7), but we only think of those things we see as problems, stressors, worries, etc. In fact, we can cast EVERYTHING on Him. Everything we CARE about – problem, situation, idea, chore, relationship, bank account, the route we drive to work, etc. EVERYTHING. If we will turn over directorship – not control – to Him, we will get back everything we need for success. God doesn’t want puppets. We don’t want to stumble. If we let Him tell us where and when and how to go, we’ll learn His way of doing things. When we know HIS way of doing things, we’ll start seeing HIS successes – and give Him the glory for them. It’s the way Jesus did things (John 5:19-20). It’s the way we are able to do them too (Ephesians 5:1-2). What a FREEING thing! Living life the best way we can, all the time (John 10:10). And to think all we need to do is LISTEN and OBEY. He makes everything SO SIMPLE! What a GOOD God!
