“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the Lord will be safe” (Proverbs 29:25, MEV). It is all too easy for us to pick up problems that aren’t really ours. To see things happening and assume we are also in danger. It’s how a lot of people end up dismissing things that will later affect them: they fear they are unreasonably being concerned. But there are other times that we ARE in danger. Government policy, programs, and institutions. Bosses. Fellow employees. Neighbours. Strangers. The list is as long as human classifications. The problem isn’t actually the person or agency that is posing the danger. The TRUE problem is whether you are fearing or trusting. When we are fearful, we don’t think straight. We panic. We activate the fallen system of flight-or-fight. However, the Lord God is right there for us to hold onto. We have evidence on top of evidence that He is faithful and sees WAY MORE than we can. If we will trust in Him instead of getting anxious, depressed, or fearful about the situation, we will find ourselves walking in peace. When God is our Source, money isn’t a problem. When God is our guide, we don’t need to know where we will land. When God is our fortress, it doesn’t matter if people are trying to hurt us. When we put our trust in God, based on our belief that His Word is trustworthy, problems become situations and fear melts in the face of His love – which brings us peace. Trusting in God is NEVER the wrong move. It is ALWAYS worthwhile and ALWAYS the right thing to do. It is also the ONLY dependable thing we can do. Everything else comes with a percentage of risk. There is NEVER a risk in trusting God. He is faithful and true. Every time.
