“But even if He does not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up.”” (Daniel 3:18, MEV). Our trust in God is based on our belief that He is who He says He is and can do what He says He can do. Without that, we don’t have salvation. Salvation – and all it entails – is based on our trust in God and belief in Him. It is THE foundation of everything (Hebrews 11:6). It is such a foundation that it supercedes our senses, our knowledge, our reason, our feelings, and our environment. “while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18, MEV). God can be so real to us that although we KNOW He can intervene and save us, we won’t change our thinking, words, or behaviour even if He doesn’t. This is the attitude of all martyrs and it can be a POWERFUL force. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Revelation 12:11, MEV). We are standing on an ETERNAL foundation. Temporary things don’t really matter – though we may not enjoy all of everything that happens (John 16:33). But we have been brought into the Kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13). We have been given SO MUCH MORE than mere life in a fallen world. We have been given ABUNDANT life, NEVER-ENDING life, and VICTORIOUS life. Circumstances don’t matter. Negative circumstances endured for godly reasons (not in human thinking) can give greater rewards than lives lived without catastrophe. We don’t look for the bad, seek the bad, want the bad, or let the bad roll over us unchallenged. But if we are listening to Holy Spirit, being guided by Him, and standing on the principles of the Word, there is NOTHING that can be done to us that’s really very much of anything (Hebrews 13:6; Matthew 10:26-28; Romans 8:31-39). Jesus LOVES us. We are NEVER alone. And THAT is what makes EVERYTHING light and momentary (2 Corinthians 4:17). We get to have JOY and STRENGTH and PEACE in EVERYTHING! How GREAT is that??
