Chapter twenty-seven is more about our behaviour and the VAST difference they make to the general outcome of our lives.
Chapter twenty-eight is a compare and contrast between what those who have understanding do and what those who have no understanding do. We can again see the difference attitude makes in actions and actions in how well our lives go.
Chapter twenty-nine is another compare and contrast, but looking at character and how it influences our actions – with all their attendant consequences.
Chapter thirty is a collection of the saying of Agar. Some believe that ‘Agar’ was a pseudonym for Solomon. Others believe that the meaning of Agar (gathered) shows this is a title for what this man did – collect sayings in one place. The focus is on things that affect us: things that are never satisfied (so avoid them), things that are too wonderful (think on them), things that the earth itself cannot bear (remove them from your life), etc.
Chapter thirty-one is a collection of sayings of the mother of King Lemuel. There are those who believe this is another pseudonym for Solomon, which makes the author of this chapter Bathsheba. If true, it shows that regardless of some of her actions, she was a devoted woman of God who transformed from a foolish woman to a wise one through seeking Him. This also makes this chapter the only chapter of Proverbs recording the wisdom a MOTHER is passing down to her child (the rest is from a father). The main focus of this chapter is the qualities of a virtuous woman. Her character and the true value of it. Of the difference a woman like this can make in the life of a husband and how she should be honoured for what she does.
