Daily Affirmation #231

Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I say?” (Luke 4:46, MEV). Believers often struggle when they cannot hear the Lord about the things that are surrounding them. We assume He is silent because He is testing us (He NEVER tempts us – James 1:13). We assume He is silent because He is angry (it is the DEVIL who is angry at us, not God – 1 Peter 5:8). We assume a LOT of things. The TRUTH is that God is ALWAYS speaking to us, BUT…. did we LISTEN and OBEY? If you did A, B, and then C, but did NOT do D, well… He’s waiting before He will tell you E. If you feel you are in a silent place, look back on what He has ALREADY said to us. Remember, He speaks to us but does not owe us EXPLANATION. We’re not seeking our memories for the whys. We are looking at at instruction. At warnings we were given. And we’re to walk them out. Maybe it was do this thing. Maybe it was focus on these verses. Maybe it was stand on your trust and do nothing. There are thousands of things we could have been told. Have trouble remembering? Holy Spirit is there to bring to remembrance EVERYTHING that Jesus has said to us. God NEVER stops speaking out of pique. He only stops when it is OUR TURN – to speak, to obey, to stand, or to whatever He said to do/not do. We are NEVER without a comforter. We are NEVER in a dry place – because our roots are deep in Him (Psalm 1:3). We are NEVER alone (Hebrews 13:5). He loves us too much for that. We NEVER get the ‘silent treatment’. We get the silent OPPORTUNITY to obey. How great is that?
