Daily Affirmation #234

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, MEV). This always reads big, doesn’t it? Big rebellion. Big rejection. Huge implications. But death is being separated from life. Spiritual death (which leads DIRECTLY to physical death – Genesis 2:17) is being separated from God, who is life (John 1:4). We all know the size of consequences. Little offenses verses big ones. We think of sin the same way. Big sins that can be gotten rid of only with difficulty. Little sins that can be gotten rid of in small ways. That’s how humanity came to invent the idea of purgatory (a place after death to pay for the offenses you didn’t clear in life so you can still get to good places). But God has a DIFFERENT perspective. The only paying for sin that has been or will ever be done is by Jesus. He was the only one who could pay the price. Accept that or reject that. Additionally, sinning in a small way is the same as sinning in a big way. There are no gradations to sin. Sin is sin is sin. Samesies. Anytime we do what WE want and not what HE wants, it is sin. If He had left it there, we would have no hope. But He didn’t. Jesus PAID the price. Jesus made the Way for us to be clean. Renewed. Cleansed. Holy Spirit is with us to remind us of the importance of cooperating with God in all things. To remind us of what Jesus said about our circumstances. To remind us of the right way to go. To correct us if we don’t. And to comfort us while guiding us through the repentance process so that we will choose not to make that error again. Our thinking leads to death, even in small ways. But Jesus made available to us HIS thinking (1 Corinthians 2:16) so that we can make HIS choices HIS way. How great is that? He loves us SO MUCH!
