The wealth of the rich is the city of his strength; the ruin of the poor is their poverty.
Proverbs 10:15
The true cause of the poor is poverty. They aren’t in poverty because they are poor. They are poor because of poverty. Jesus came to preach to the poor to separate them from their poverty. Poor is a condition caused by a mindset. If you don’t kill the mindset, you will never defeat the condition. Take a poverty mindset and it doesn’t matter how much money you throw at them. Sooner or later they will be exactly where they were before, if not in a worse place. The mindset of poverty will affect their decisions, words, and actions until their external condition matches the internal mindset. Jesus brings LIGHT to break that darkness, which is the ignorance of what is possible for us.
If someone is convinced deep inside that they deserve poverty, that is EXACTLY what they will be reaching for. THAT is what they will embrace. That’s why it is of immense importance to watch what we take inside ourselves. What goes into our hearts programs what is in our heads. There are more memory cells within the physical organ of our heart than is what is in the organ of our brain AND more electrical signals travel from the heart to the head than vice versa. That’s why you can go to therapy – which deals with our mental landscape – and deal with something, but also have to learn coping mechanisms because it will consistently ‘come back’. Not because the brain refuses to forget or deal with it, but because what is in the heart will re-program the brain to the heart condition. Humanity deals with the mind. Adonai deals with the heart. He made us for the heart to hold more than the head AND hold it stronger.
“But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these defile the person” (Matthew 15:18). “Offspring of vipers! How are you able to say good things when you are evil? For from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34). “With all vigilance, keep your heart, for from it comes the source of life” (Proverbs 4:23). “Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs hearts” (Proverbs 21:2). “The good person out of the good treasury of his heart brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasury brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). There are a dozen more verses that point to the importance of our hearts. The heart is more important to our mindset than anything else. It is the frame on which we hang our minds, which informs the words we speak, the actions we take, and the emotions we make. The condition of our heart IS our intent, whether we acknowledge it or not.
When we absorb the message of the world and the message of the devil, we get within our hearts the idea that we are poor. Poor in words. Poor in circumstance. Poor in spirit. Poor in blessing. Poor in emotions. Poor in relationships. Poor in culture. Poor in confidence. Poor in education. Poor in possessions. Poor in quality. Poor in worth. Poor in appearance. Poor in health. Poor in situation. Poor in support. Poor in government. Poor in finances. Poor in intelligence. Poor in speaking. Poor in hearing. Poor in understanding. The list goes on. But for EACH AND EVERY ONE Jesus brings FREEDOM. Jesus brings RICHES. We don’t HAVE to wait until heaven. We can be rich in spirit. Rich in circumstance. Rich in blessing. Rich in emotions. Rich in relationships. Rich in culture. Rich in confidence. Rich in education. Rich in possessions. Rich in quality. Rich in worth. Rich in appearance. Rich in health. Rich in situation. Rich in support. Rich in government. Rich in finances. Rich in intelligence. Rich in speaking. Rich in hearing. Rich in understanding. Rich in victory. And rich in opportunity to give glory to Adonai because of His goodness manifested in our lives NOW, HERE, and CONSISTENTLY SO.
Jesus came to PREACH to the poor. He preached the Gospel message of freedom in Adonai. He preached the Gospel message of Adonai not being angry with us. He preached the Gospel message of being authorized and anointed to have more than we need so that we can bless others. He preached the Gospel message of peace brought from Adonai to our hearts in and through Ruach HaKodesh who resides there. Where Adonai is, His peace is. Jesus preached freedom. “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him—this one bears much fruit, for apart from me you are not able to do anything” (John 15:5). In JESUS we have ALL WE COULD EVER NEED. And then we have MORE because Adonai is a GOOD GOD, a GENEROUS GOD, and a MORE THAN ENOUGH GOD. Jesus NEVER left ANYONE how they were when they allowed Him to minister. If they let Him minister to them, He ALWAYS left them BETTER OFF. When Adonai is our Source, NOTHING is beyond us because He holds NOTHING back. “because his divine power has bestowed on us all things that are necessary for life and godliness, through the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence of character” (2 Peter 1:3). It is all available IN JESUS and we access it by aligning ourselves with HIS thinking, HIS will, HIS desires, and submit to HIS rule. We don’t do our things our way or try and do His things our way. We do His things His way because we WANT His will done and then we find ourselves surrounded by abundance – spirit first, physical after (3 John 2).
It is WORDS heard by us that produce TRUST IN US toward Him (Romans 10:17). It is the HEARING with the intent to OBEY that strengthens those trust muscles. Belief has nothing to work with without trust, so what can we do without building it up? Everything works this way. Adonai did not spend His time in the garden telling Adam what to do every moment of every day. Adonai EMPOWERED Adam and Adam worked in the garden doing what He said – and then they talked about their day afterward, making plans for the next day (Genesis 2:4-9, 15; 3:8). Adam DID what he had already been TOLD to do or what he was shown by Ruach HaKodesh AT THE TIME he was working. Jesus operated EXACTLY the same way (John 5:19). Jesus told us that IN HIM we too could operate EXACTLY the same way (John 14:12). We are called to be POOR NO MORE. We are called to be IN JESUS and in Jesus be the FULLNESS of Adonai. “On account of this, I bend my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love), in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:14-19). THAT is richness of spirit AND richness throughout ALL aspects of our lives. ABUNDANT life (John 10:10), which is FREEDOM in Jesus.
Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Galatians 5:1
“For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” Once Jesus set us free, we were entitled to total freedom in Him. In JESUS we can be free of all shackles and bonds. Free to choose Adonai every time. Free to obey Jesus. Free to listen to Ruach HaKodesh. Free to trust Jesus with all that we have and all that we say and all that we think and all that we do. Free to live the way He says we can live. Not giving into broken thinking. Not going back to the way things were. Not saying ‘nope, we can’t have that until heaven’ about things Adonai has clearly said are in our grasp – and are our right to use. Free not to close our minds to the things of Adonai and what He says He is doing and what He says is possible. Free not to side with the past when the present is a NEW thing (Isaiah 43:19), not a WRONG thing. All these freedoms and more are ours. The Word shows us again and again they are ours. A forward-moving Elohim is holding out His hand so that we move forward too. Forward into HIM. Forward into His will. Into cooperation with Him. Forward into His riches, for His glory, for all people. Truly FREE. What a GOOD God!
