Daily Affirmation #235

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8. MEV). We tend to look at this verse and think of it exactly as written. That God is far above us (true). That His thinking is far above ours (true). That we are unable to understand His thinking (in ourselves, true). You never know what God wants or will do (totally false). If you cycle back a few verses (6-7), and if you go ahead a few verses (10-13), you can clearly see that God is talking to the WICKED here, NOT the godly. He’s telling them of their relative position to Himself and calling to them about the benefits of aligning with Him. What does He say to the godly about His thoughts, mind, will, and intentions? He LOVES to share before He does things (Amos 3:7). He LOVES that we can interact with Him through the MIND of JESUS, which He gives us access to (1 Corinthians 2:16). He wants us to know what His will is (John 7:17). He wants us godly and sanctified to His purposes (John 17:17). God is hiding in plain sight in order to be both sought AND found. Discovered AND known. Yes, it takes effort on our part to put away broken thinking, but by REPLACING it with godly thinking through the Word we can cooperate with Him (Romans 12:2). He makes us able to do His will, know His will, obey His will, and think His thoughts (Philippians 2:13; Hebrews 13:20-21). He wants cooperators, not stumblers arounders. And He makes sure we have what we need to be what He says we can be. That’s pretty awesome.
