Daily Affirmation #252

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, MEV). We trust when we hear the message of Jesus spoken out loud. It stirs our belief. It reveals His character. It helps us understand who He is. It helps us understand who He says we are. You never fully trust someone you don’t hear speaking. We can trust some unknown person by their reputation to a certain extent, but sooner or later we need to meet them to really trust them. Did you know the same is true about yourself? What is in your heart? Really in there? Jesus said that what is in the heart comes out (Luke 6:45). We can declare until the cows come home, but if you don’t believe it in your heart you aren’t coming into alignment with what God says is true. You’re simply hoping for the best. If you are trying to stand on scripture for His glory and it doesn’t seem to be ‘working’, pay attention to what you SAY. How are you talking in your day to day life? God told us to test everything (1 Thessalonians 5:21), so test yourself. Do you speak words based on trust in Him? Or are you speaking words that show you WANT to trust, but maybe have a few doubts? That isn’t sinful, it’s revelatory! It shows you that you need to spend more time talking with God about it. Not begging or pleading, but actual conversation. See what He says about things, check it out in the Word, study it out. Get what HE says deep into your heart so that it will replace your own broken thinking. Don’t stop declaring, but add to the declaring conversation with God. Get your thinking AND your saying based on Him. He isn’t there to see you sweat and squirm. He’s HERE to talk and fellowship. To guide and lead. It isn’t a test to see if you merit something. It is an OPPORTUNITY to get to know Him better and what He has for you. Don’t miss it. He loves you enough to wait for you, but why wait? Why not grab a hold of Him and start walking together? Why not deepen your relationship? He’ll let you in as far as you want to go. No limits. How great is that?
