Fear No Fear

“Who is a God like you, forgiving sin and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, for he delights in loyal love. He will again have compassion on us; he will trample our iniquities. And you will hurl all their sins in the depths of the sea.”

Micah 7:18-19

The Elohim of the Old Testament is right there in these verses. Judging only when He HAS to. Actively seeking to put away His anger toward Sin by forgiving sins, passing over rebellions, trampling iniquity, and drowning them where they can NOT return from. He is an Elohim of COMPASSION. Of FORGIVENESS. Of PRESERVING a remnant. Since we know He doesn’t change (Hebrews 13:8), why do we expect different treatment? ESPECIALLY since Jesus came to make a Way for us to LIVE in His sinlessness – instead of an annual cycle of performance-based forgiveness (the sacrificial system, which you had to perform to participate in). We have forgotten and misrepresented His character.

“The Lord is not delaying the promise, as some consider slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). Adonai wants ALL of us saved. He didn’t give up on Abraham, or Moses, or Caesar, or Hitler, or you, or me. Not everyone responded to Him, but I guarantee that right up to the last possible moment Adonai gave them a chance. Just like with the Amorites (Genesis 15:16). Adonai is PATIENT and MERCIFUL. What we see as slowness, He sees as giving opportunity. He is not itching to smite us. He is not waiting for the chance to strike. He is not bloodthirsty. He is not vengeful. His desire is for SAVING. His desire is for RESTORATION. His desire is to dissipate our iniquity and personal sins. He is NOT and NEVER has been or EVER will be out to get you.

“And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light and there is no darkness in him at all” (1 John 1:5). Human thinking changes. Godly thinking does not. This doesn’t mean that Adonai keeps us in outmoded thinking. It doesn’t mean that Adonai is against advancement or development or new things. It DOES mean that independent from human reason, thinking, and wisdom; there IS a STANDARD of right and wrong. It is OBJECTIVE. It does not require our participation OR our approval. Morals are based on PERCEIVED truth in human beings. We change what we think is wrong or right based on our collective experiences and the prejudices of the various societies in which we exist. What is right and good now would have gotten us burned or worse a few hundred years ago. ANYONE naked near children would have been arrested and applauded by EVERYONE twenty years ago (barring private above-board family bathing or select circumstances in public facilities, like showering in pools). Yet today, because it happens in a parade celebrating a particular set of morals, we say anyone objecting to the public act of nudity where there were children were present is not only acceptable but applaudable. That is changing morality. But TRUE morality is based on TRUTH and TRUTH doesn’t change – neither can it be subjective personal morals (your truth, my truth, etc). Adonai is consistent. Adonai does not compromise. Truth and righteous behaviour is true and righteous. Period. No matter WHAT we do. If we are getting conflicting messages or being told that behaviour, thinking, ideals, and morals that the Word decries no longer are bad – that is NOT Adonai’s position. Adonai NEVER contradicts the Word. He doesn’t change. He doesn’t compromise. He doesn’t make exceptions. Instead, He calls and equips us to conform to HIS thinking. He encourages us and teaches us how to renew our thinking to HIS and leave behind what is broken and doesn’t work (Romans 12:2).

“Have you not known, or have you not heard? Yahweh is the God of eternity, the creator of the ends of the earth! He is not faint, and he does not grow weary! There is no searching his understanding” (Isaiah 40:28). Your problem is not worrying Adonai. Your healing will not drain Heaven of its resources. Adonai is not stressed and not concerned. Adonai is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Jesus is MORE THAN ENOUGH. Ruach HaKodesh is MORE THAN ENOUGH. They have MORE THAN YOU NEED, MORE THAN YOU WANT, and MORE THAN YOU CAN AMASS OR SPEND. Heaven’s storehouses are UNLIMITED. And each and EVERY bit of it is for Adonai’s glory. It cannot be spent on that which doesn’t conform to godliness (James 4:3). All the things of the Kingdom conform to the principle of bringing Adonai glory. That’s why we have access to healing. That’s why we are prospered in every way when we seek Him. He is our generous Father who we praise, worship, thank, and tell others about. He is SO GOOD to us! He doesn’t get tired of us. He loves us and wants to share our lives. Lives dedicated to Him. Lives full of wonder, glory, and signs. Lives submitted to Him where we see that MORE THAN ENOUGH poured out EVERY DAY. Into the spirits of those who seek Him and then into their lives. It is so MORE THAN ENOUGH that it cannot be stopped by anything but our unbelief and refusal to trust Him. But if we will believe, and we will trust Him no matter what things LOOK like, He shows us His goodness again and again in such ways that we KNOW and TESTIFY that no one but ADONAI could have done it!

This is His character. GOODNESS. MERCY. LOVE. KINDNESS. Read Galatians 5, 1 Corinthians 13, and Psalm 1-8. This is ADONAI! He is GLORIOUS and MERCIFUL and FAITHFUL in His LOVE for us. There is so much that He has told us we can walk in that seems impossible – unless you really seek to know His character and start getting His revelation of it. Understanding of what He wrote in His Word for us to find. Seek to find Him. The REAL Him. The Him of the scriptures and Jesus’ life. Seek HIM and know HIM and the rest becomes so SIMPLE. He is a VERY good Elohim.

Daily Affirmation of the Goodness of Elohim: Psalm 18:30

“This God—his way is blameless. The word of Yahweh is flawless. He is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.” The devil wants to break all of Adonai’s creation (John 10:10). We are part of that creation and are favoured of Adonai. That makes us special targets. He hates us because he hates everything. He hates us especially because Adonai loves us especially. Everything about the devil has to do with compromise. Blinding us to the reality of our decisions. The true and full consequences of our actions. Adonai knows this and so He gave us His Word. He gave us knowledge of Himself and of His character. He gave it to us so that we would KNOW that we can trust Him. That we can take refuge in Him. That we can rely on Him. That we can TRUST Him. That is the shield that protects us: WHO HE IS. His very SELF is the shield that protects us. That keeps us from harm. If we will trust and rely on Him, we get the benefit of that protection. His strength, not ours. His performance, not ours, His character, not ours. Trust and obedience to Him. That’s it! What a GOOD God!
