“They shall teach no more every man his neighbor and every man his brother, saying, “Know the Lord,” for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord, for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more” (Jeremiah 31:34, MEV). This is a promise of the Lord which still has a future fulfillment. We are certainly not at the place where we don’t need to be taught by each other. There is still a role for preachers and teachers. But we DO have a partial fulfillment: Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth sent to teach us all things (John 16:33). Jesus also speaks to us and we KNOW His voice (John 10:27). In this world of conflicting information, we have TRUTH to fall back on. We can RELY on it being REAL and ACCURATE – even when it SEEMS to conflict with human thinking, wisdom, and research. This is a GREAT promise. He SPEAKS to us. He doesn’t leave us in the dark. He talks to us, dialogues with us, and informs us of all sorts of things. If we will ask and listen to His answers – with the intent to submit and obey – we can learn ANYTHING. Anything that we have a need to know, He can teach us. He also leads us to other sources of learning, but it doesn’t change His speaking to us. What other God REFUSES to let His followers stay ignorant? What other God REFUSES to let His followers get burdened by EITHER ignorance OR knowing too much too soon? Jesus PREPARES us to know things. Jesus lets us know what is true about darkness by showing us THE TRUTH of His LIGHT. If we are knowledgeable about His RIGHTNESS, we automatically know anything else is WRONG. God is invested with our grounding ourselves in HIM so that we can HANDLE the knowledge we need to survive and THRIVE. How great is that? He is the ONLY one who does it. He’s just THAT good.
