Daily Affirmation #259

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35, MEV). Our feelings resist this verse. In fact, our feelings totally reject and contradict this verse. But this verse is TRUTH and our feelings are a lie. It’s easy to feel like you’re in a desert place or on a plateau not moving forward. You may even be in one of those places. But how you FEEL in that place has nothing to do with how you are SPIRITUALLY. If we will lean into the love that Jesus has for us and seek Him fully – regardless of where we are – we will be FULLY satisfied in Him. We’ll be in a desert, but with roots so deep we’re drinking from the River of Life and our branches full of fruit and leaves. We’ll be on a plateau, but resting in the cool of His Wings and eating our fill of His Love until we’re ready to move on. No matter where we are, we can be FULL and SATISFIED. We do NOT have to be dry. We do NOT have to be barren. And if we find we are FEELING that way, it’s a sure sign that we’ve stopped eating and drinking Jesus. We’ve stopped seeking Him FULLY and we’ve started to rely on ourselves. When we are connected to Jesus, HIS strength pulls us through. HIS love feeds us. HIS peace cools us. It’s all about HIM and never about US. We can be learning, being corrected, deepening our understanding, and dealing with issues at the SAME TIME we’re relying on Him for everything we need. He is ALWAYS with us and NEVER leaves us and IN HIM we have our being. So why should I EVER be hungry? Why should I EVER be thirsty? And I should never EVER be desperate for Him because He is ALREADY HERE. I already HAVE Him. If we want more, we need to learn more about Jesus and His love for us. That’s the point of Paul’s prayer for us in Ephesians 3 and Jesus’ prayer for us in John 17. Through study of the Word, which reveals Jesus’ love for us, we can gain experiential knowledge of Jesus, which will get us EVERYTHING we could ever need or want or desire. He has made sure that we are ALWAYS connected to Himself through Holy Spirit – our guide, corrector, teacher, and comforter. Amen.
