Daily Affirmation #260

Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”” (Hebrews 13:5, MEV). This was a quote from both Deuteronomy 31:6 and Joshua 1:5. Both were times when the Israelites were heading into danger and battle. They were ALSO both times when the Israelites were heading into great blessing and prosperity. Their encouragement in both cases was the same: God isn’t going anywhere. When marriages fail, it is because one or both of the partners got disillusioned and then detached from the relationship. After that things spiral until they are worked through (restored) or (much more common) the marriage ends in divorce. Humanity was meant to be in a serious, monogamous relationship with God Almighty. When heading into their greatest trial, the Israelites were told God wasn’t going anywhere. He was going to fight for the relationship. He even told them all the stages they would go through, what would happen, and how they would eventually be restored. He kept nothing back and gave them the option of either letting it all play out OR fighting for the relationship as well. Sadly, they didn’t all choose to right – although some did. We as believers and dwellers in Jesus have the same choice. God affirms in Hebrews that He isn’t going anywhere. Whether we are sitting in the lap of luxury, suffering in turmoil and persecution, or anywhere in between; He is WITH us. Good days, bad days, meh days, He is there. Are we going to engage with Him? Are we going to lean on Him? Are we going to let HIM be the source of our happiness and contentment, or are we going to look elsewhere? Are we going to be faithful or are we going to be cheaters? God has arranged things through Jesus to empower our faithfulness. God has given us His Holy Spirit to teach us and correct us and guide us to rely and trust in Jesus in all things so that we can maintain a relationship with the Father at all times. God loves us and wants to be with us and for us to be with Him. He’s gone out of His way to enable us to participate in an abundant life based on Himself. He’s promised never to leave. All WE need to do is take His hand and cooperate with Him. He’s doing all the rest. He is offering us COMPLETE and TOTAL security and peace. Who wouldn’t want that? Take His hand and enter into His REST. It evens everything out, it keeps us in perfect peace, and it enables us to take enjoyment from our lives in ways that are almost indescribable. He is SO good to us. He is a GOOD Father. Take His hand. Live the journey in Jesus today. Experience His AWESOME love.
