Fear No Fear

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it” (Matthew 13:45-46, MEV). This is a great dual-sided parable. When we find God, when we answer His call to us (John 6:44), we recognize the value of what we are called to. We walk away from everything that we THOUGHT had value and grab a hold of TRUE value. We forsake the world, die to our old selves, and grasp what we’ve been offered with joy. At the same time, God found something that was worth so very much: US. We have such a value to Him that He was willing to give up EVERYTHING in order to purchase our salvation (Philippians 2:5-7). This is love FROM love and love TO love (1 John 4:19). It’s truly beautiful when we start to understand not only His value to us, but our value to Him. Each of us giving up all we have in order to secure a relationship with the other. That’s love. That’s salvation. That’s what it is ALL about.
