“Now David was old and full of days. And he made Solomon his son king over Israel. And he assembled all the commanders of Israel and the priests and the Levites.” (1 Chronicles 23:1-2).
Chapter twenty-three starts a detailed section where David works with the leadership of Israel and its priests to determine who was going to do what in the Temple when it was built. David had been thinking about this for a LONG time. This chapter deals with the Levites. It lists their family names and their duties.
Chapter twenty-four assigns the priestly divisions and the assignments for any Levites not already assigned duties.
Chapter twenty-five details the musicians that were assigned to the Temple. It would be a place FULL of worship, song, and melody. JOYFUL noise with ALL kinds of instruments (many of which David has commissioned himself). The Lord LOVES music.
