The man said, “The woman whom you gave me, she gave me some fruit from the tree and I ate it.”
Genesis 3:12 (emphasis added)
You have to choose to sin. You have to choose to take responsibility. You have to choose to accept negative things. The devil can’t do ANYTHING without your permission. There is nothing natural about sickness. It is a lie of this world that we are animals. It is a lie of this world that we are only human. It is a lie of the devil from the depths of everything he is that we have to fight to remove these things from us. They are not in us. They are outside us. We have to CHOOSE to accept them. Unless we pass our responsibility to something or someone else, we have total and complete dominion over ourselves and our environment in Jesus!
Dominion (authority) only comes when you accept responsibility. There are restrictions that come with it. Things you can do and things you cannot do. We as humans (male and female) understand this and accept it in our world on a DAILY basis. Oh the cry and fuss that kicks up when people abuse their power – I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. A policeman or police woman cannot shoot anyone they want. A driver can’t go in any direction they want. A doctor can’t inject you with whatever they want or remove anything they want in surgery. Shoppers can’t walk out with whatever they want. Pilots can’t fly wherever it seems good to them. We have restrictions that come with our roles and responsibilities. We accept that so much you can sue people who violate the boundaries of their authority. When we violate our dominion here in this natural world and its systems we can be fined and imprisoned. We understand dominion.
The problem then is not an intellectual one. It is a problem of MINDSET. As soon as we pick up a bible we think something has changed. We think we’re dealing with all new rules, all new concepts, stuff so different they don’t align at all. That’s a lie. Everything in the world that humans have thought up is a version of something that exists in truth. Everything the devil does is a twisted version of something that is true. The devil got us to meditate, but do it in a selfish and demonic way. The devil has people all over the world trying to manifest things, but in a selfish and demonic way. The ways of the world are disconnected from the truth and the way things should be done. That’s why they are flawed. That’s why they only work in a human way.
We pray and moan and beg and nothing happens. Why? We’re trying to do it the human way. You can complain at a store and raise a fuss and force something through that is against the rules. You can do it in court. You can do it just about anywhere. We can manipulate the system to get our way. But you can’t manipulate Adonai Elohim Almighty. Outside of Jesus, we are humans addressing THE Creator of everything that is. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9). That’s the same place unbelievers live in. That’s the same relationship. But believers have a much different relationship. We DO NOT stand there so very ‘different’ from Adonai. We are redeemed! We have Ruach HaKodesh living inside us (1 Corinthians 3:16). We’re one THIRD Holy Ghost. We abide in Jesus and He abides in us (Romans 8:10). Therefore we have access to the mind of Messiah Jesus! “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). We have access to the inside track of how reality works.
If we will take hold of what Adonai says and do what Adonai says should be done and ask for the things that Adonai wants to happen, guess what? THEY WILL HAPPEN!! The power of the Word is believable and incredible. It created everything we see. The Word is Jesus manifested in paper form. “Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his glory—the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from the Father” (John 1:14). Anything Jesus did (ever: Hebrews 13:8), the Word can do. It only needs to be used according to the Will of the Father, not our will (James 4:3). If we will take hold of what HE tells us is ours and speak it with belief, trusting in HIM to manifest what HE said was going to happen, it WILL happen! Why don’t we believe? Because we think it is different. If my driving instructor tells me that if I keep driving when the red light turns on it is a violation, I believe them. If they tell me that if I turn the vehicle sharply to the right or left and don’t correct my course I will drive off the road, I believe them. If the Word tells me that Jesus was whipped, beaten, and killed so that I could walk without sickness… that’s where we stop. That’s where we start adding human reasoning and human thinking. It isn’t wise. It isn’t right. It’s childish.
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. But when I became an adult, I set aside childish ways” (1 Corinthians 3:11). Put aside childish, religious thinking. It’s a choice. We DECIDE to stop believing in Santa and the Easter Bunny. We DECIDE to face the world with a realistic point of view. We DECIDE to believe Adonai or apply OUR limits on what He can do in our lives. “For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation” (Romans 10:10). Does your heart believe? And does your heart believe YOU? Do you keep your word? Or do you use a lot of hyperbole and say things you don’t really mean? I could eat a horse. I’m starving. They drive me crazy. I can never sleep in a thunderstorm. I can’t do math. Our words go on and on. When you speak your body hears you. Your heart hears you. Are you speaking TRUTH or are you saying things to get an idea across but it is something you KNOW isn’t true? Your body and your heart learn your words cannot be trusted.
Do you say you will do something, but don’t? Do you say you will be somewhere at a specific time, and you’re not? Those statements (and others like them) become lies when your actions do not accord with your words. It isn’t nothing. It is IMPORTANT. Your body hears you. Your heart hears you. They learn that your words are not trustworthy. Keeping your word isn’t some old fashioned social behaviour whose time has passed. The truth of your words informs your body and your heart whether or not YOU are trustworthy. It isn’t just about the world around us. Is that important? Yes! But it is MORE important that WE believe OURSELVES. Jesus said we could use His authority. “Look, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions and on the full force of the enemy, and nothing will hurt you” (Luke 10:19). “I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). You can trust in Adonai all you want. You can believe in Him all you want. But if you speak like He commanded us (Mark 11:23) and your body doesn’t believe you, nothing will happen because you are double-minded.
“But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a double-minded individual, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:6-8). When we speak, it impacts us. When we say things over and over and over, that repetition will get down inside you. That’s how we all learned our times tables. Don’t confess things you don’t believe. Don’t confess negative things. Sure, we don’t ignore the negative thing the doctor tells us, but we also don’t repeat it. We don’t say ‘I have’. If we need to communicate it we say ‘the doctor says’ and follow it up with the Word ‘but it is written in Matthew 8:16-17 Jesus heals EVERYONE’. We speak POSITIVE things. We speak LIFE. We speak the Word. We don’t say one thing and believe another. We MUST line up our words with our belief. We MUST line up our belief with the Word. We MUST trust what Adonai says. How He says it. That it works the way He says it will. That what He says is possible is possible. It is the ONLY way to operate according to the Will of the Father.
Jesus KNEW Lazarus was dead (John 11:1-44). He KNEW it. But He didn’t SAY it. He said Lazarus was only ASLEEP. He did not mix belief and doubt. He didn’t give it an opportunity. Ruach HaKodesh had told Jesus that the Father wanted Jesus to raise Lazarus. The Father knew Lazarus was willing to come back. Ruach HaKodesh had the power to restore Lazarus’ body and put Lazarus’ spirit back inside it. Everything was lined up. But if Jesus started talking about DEATH, the disciples would believe it and doubt anything Jesus said about it. That was His starting point. When the disciples misunderstood Him He told them about the death, but He had laid the groundwork for trust. He had spoken positively. They weren’t raising unbelief. They raised confusion. They raised not understanding. They were willing to go with Jesus and see what the deal was AND you’ll notice THEY said nothing during the event. They spoke nothing and watched Jesus’ trust in action. Jesus got there and prayed saying I KNOW. Jesus’ words lined up with His trust and He believed. Because He did, it worked! The Father’s Will came to pass. It can be the same for us today. We can HAVE what we SAY when we speak believing
in the trust we have in His Word which IS His Will.
“For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation” (Romans 10:10). We got salvation through belief and confession, trusting Adonai meant it. Well, salvation covers EVERYTHING. Health is given, lack is defeated, toil is eliminated and work restored, the blessing is enabled, it ALL is part of salvation. Look that word up in the Greek. Use Strong’s. Use the Blue Letter Bible App. You’ll see that it covers SO MUCH. And we can engage it when we engage our trust and believe it. How can we believe? Speak it! How do we speak belief? Train our body and heart with our conscious mind to trust and believe our own words proven through our actions. Just as trust is the fuel creating righteous works in our lives (James 2:26), our speaking ONLY what we believe will be the fuel creating honest actions. We must follow through. It will be easy to follow through when we speak ONLY what we believe. Don’t say you will be there at eleven if you aren’t going to absolutely be there at eleven. Don’t say you’ll try for eleven unless you will be taking solid actions to honestly try. Keep your word.
This isn’t easy because the world doesn’t keep its word. The world says things it doesn’t mean ALL the time. Sayings, jestings, traditions, etc. We’ve absorbed them throughout our lives and we need to consciously disconnect them. Speak TRUTH. Speak POSITIVELY. Do NOT speak death. Do NOT speak sickness. Speak the Word. Believe it. And ACT like you believe it. Don’t let your actions counteract your words. Let your word be true. We’re supposed to be like Jesus, right? How did HE think? Just like Paul when looking at unbelief. “Absolutely not! Let God be proven true, and every human being shown up as a liar, just as it is written: “so that you will be justified in your words and will prevail when you are judged”” (Romans 3:4). May the same be true of us.
Our words should be truth, our trust should be in Adonai, and we should believe the Word works as Adonai says it does no matter WHAT we see/taste/touch/smell/hear/feel; no matter what anyone else says or does; no matter WHAT. Keep YOUR word, keep HIS Word, and let TRUTH be the watchword of your actions, words, and thoughts. Train your body and your heart in BELIEF. It makes you BETTER and it keeps you from being BITTER because when things work according to the Word, life gets glorious. When we decide to run life according to the world, we get bitter. Make the decision to be responsible. Make the decision to be limited by His Will. His point of view isn’t ours, but it is RIGHTEOUS. We will be transformed by it. We will walk in victory because of it. Because it speaks NOTHING but TRUTH about what JESUS did for us. Our words should bound our reality. Our reality should be THE truth. And together with Adonai, all things become possible. Don’t speak anything but truth. Don’t DECIDE anything less. Hold yourself to that standard and do NOT pass the buck.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Isaiah 53:9
“They intended to bury him with criminals, but he ended up in a rich man’s tomb because he had committed no violent deeds, nor had he spoken deceitfully.” Messiah would be both innocent and a man who had done no violence. This is specifically violence against another human being and possibly to animals. Messiah’s mission as the Suffering Servant was one of peace, not conquest. “Then the chief priests began to accuse him repeatedly. So Pilate asked him again, “Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!” But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed” (Mark 15:3). Jesus was innocent. There was nothing to say. He was obedient to the will of the Father. Now, some point to the two times that Jesus cleared the temple (John 2:14-17 and Matthew 21:12-17) as evidence of both a temper and violence. But the Word is clear that it was Righteous anger, a ZEAL for the holiness of the Temple that Jesus demonstrated. Also, it says He drove them out, not that He beat them. In essence, should there have been physical contact it would be akin to a spanking, not a bar fight. Jesus did not put up with blatant interference in the role of the Temple to bring people to Adonai, but He was a man of peace. Jesus IS Messiah!
