Fear No Fear

“If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men” (Romans 12:18, MEV). We are meant to NOT live in strife. This is the secret to a calm life. It doesn’t mean that situations and troubles don’t rise up. It has to do with how we approach them. How we deal with them. Whether we are looking to God for our tools or whether we are relying on ourselves. God never meant for us to rely on ourselves. We were designed and meant to rely totally and completely on Him (John 15:5). To get from Him what we need to accomplish all we need to accomplish. To deal with whatever rises up. Like a surgeon in an operating theatre, we call out the tool and He places it in our hand in order for us to then use it. Without Him, we could not accomplish anything. Without Him, we would be unable to achieve. How does that factor into our daily life of living peacefully with all? We accept His peace by seeking Him. Those that spend time with God gain His peace (Isaiah 26:3). He’s not asking for us to think happier. He’s not asking us to not be sad, anxious, or depressed by willpower. He’s asking us to seek and rely on Him and HE will give us peace. So when He says don’t be anxious (Philippians 4:5-6; Matthew 6:25-34), it means we are to choose to seek Him instead. That it is through HIM and HIS PRESENCE that we GAIN peace. And who doesn’t want to spend more time with God? I mean, that’s a GREAT deal, right?
