“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),” (Ephesians 2:4-5, MEV). We didn’t deserve saving. We weren’t nice. We weren’t trying to be good. We weren’t trying to follow Him. He came for us when we were flat out enemies of the Lord. When we were in the middle of the worst of our sin. THAT is when He said He loved us and wanted to save us. At our WORST. Because He LOVES us. He showed mercy He had NO REASON to show. By GRACE we were offered salvation. Not our thoughts, not our words, not our deeds, not our treatment of others, not our giving to charity, not our being ‘good’ people. None of that made us right with God. No matter how good we could be, there was always bad mixed in there. Small bad. Big bad. HUGE bad. It doesn’t matter. ANY bad keeps you from God’s presence if you are not saved. Once we’re saved, if we sin we have a way to be cleansed. To renew our minds to His thinking, repent, turn around, and show the evidence of our repentance with actions and words. But BEFORE salvation? No way out. No way to earn our way out. Jesus came for us anyway. He paid what we couldn’t pay. He did what no human being EVER could. He did it for love of us. Because of mercy. Through grace. Jesus saved you because YOU are worth everything He went through. That is how you look in God’s eyes. That is the VALUE you have. Jesus saved YOU because YOU are what He desired. He loves YOU and wants fellowship with YOU because of who YOU are. The Father thought you up before anything was created, told Jesus about you, and Jesus said He would DIE so that YOU could come into being and be saved. He was willing to DIE to meet YOU. He cherishes you. He truly, TRULY loves you.
