Daily Affirmation #273

The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from now and for evermore” (Psalm 121:8, MEV). The Lord really does look after us. In so many different ways. About six months ago He encouraged me to use less chocolate chips in our baking, leading toward eliminating it all together. It seemed weird, but I really felt we were to stop getting the big bag we had been (it was the best deal). He wasn’t saying cut out chocolate or anything like that. Just use less and don’t buy the bulk bag. Weird, but we obeyed. He trusted there were reasons. This last weekend when we were shopping, I happened to notice the product we used to buy. The price has almost doubled. He has saved us so much money. Which got me thinking of all the LITTLE things and ways that He guides us. Not the big things. Not the major shifts of thinking or behaviour, but the minuscule. And He is right there with us all the time. Getting me up five minutes before my alarm so I don’t disturb my partner who is particularly tired. Building things a particular way, and it ends up solving an issue I didn’t know would come up. Driving a certain route home, or leaving a few minutes later than I wanted to and we end up avoiding an accident or being somewhere at just the right time. The more I look to Him in ALL things, the more I am willing to listen. It isn’t that the Lord isn’t trying to guide us toward the best route all the time. It is US who aren’t always willing to listen and to obey. But God really does preserve our going out and coming in, if we’ll let Him. He really IS a part of our lives in every way, if we’ll let Him. He really does have an opinion to give us based on HIS point of view – which is ALWAYS the best thing for us (whether we perceive it as that at the time or not). He is a GOOD Father. He DOES preserve us. I encourage you to listen to Holy Spirit and to ASK Holy Spirit questions as you go about your day. Listen to the answers and obey them – even if they seem weird. When you look back on your day, week, month, and year, you will begin to notice the MANY ways that He made your life better. He is trustworthy. He is about PRESERVING us. He is about ABUNDANT life. He is trying to help us in EVERY way. I’m so grateful for that. Aren’t you?
