“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may declare the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9, MEV). It is so easy to be confused these days. There are so many conflicting messages, it’s hard to know which ones we should be listening to. Or the ones our children should be listening to. It is too easy for us to lose our way. But we do not serve a God who doesn’t care. We don’t serve a God who doesn’t provide. We serve a God who made a Way before we KNEW we NEEDED a way. God GIVES us our identity. The identity of His people. The identity of His holiness. And the identity of His priesthood -chosen specifically by Him and for Him. That’s a pretty good identity. That’s a wonderful calling. We never fear getting lost in the morass of messages available to us when we can grab a hold of Him and keep close to the One who provides everything for us – even the identity of who we are. Amen.
