Daily Affirmation #287

Surely the Lord God does nothing without revealing His purpose to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7, MEV). God doesn’t keep ‘secrets’. We aren’t always told WHY and we are NOT owed an explanation from God for ANYTHING. But God always tells us what’s coming. Not WHEN. Not WHY. Not always HOW. But we know that a thing is coming and we know that HE is the one doing it. God uses His prophets to tell us (1 Thessalonians 5:20). The fact that not every prophet gets it right doesn’t mean that they all get it wrong. Whenever I hear from a prophet about something, I listen and log it in my mind. Holy Spirit will tell me if I need to change what I’m doing or if I need to prepare – IF I am listening to Him as I meditate on what the prophet said. And there is comfort to be had from the message. God tells us what’s coming so that it doesn’t take us by surprise. So that we will double-down on trusting in Him and not panic. The Twelve disciples were told three times by Jesus that He would both die and resurrect in three days and it still took them by surprise. But He was trying to give them something to hold onto so they wouldn’t despair in the circumstances. So that they would know He had a plan and they could trust HIM. So that they wouldn’t panic. It’s what God has always done. It’s what God always does. He tells us what’s coming. There is ALWAYS a reason to trust in Him. He loves us too much to encourage panic. So listen when prophecies come and don’t be surprised when something comes to pass. It’s God’s heads up for what the world sees as panic-worthy events. But WE can sail smoothly with sails full of trust in Jesus. Amen.
