because everyone who has been fathered by God conquers the world.
1 John 5:4 (emphasis added)
The word ‘everyone’ means a bit more than every person – within the verse the implication is every believer. It means more than that. It is the Greek word ‘pas’ (pas). It means ‘all’ in the sense of every part that applies. It means all kinds, all people, all respects, any at all, anything, every form, every way, entire, and whole. Some translations have “because everything that has been fathered by God”. I prefer that, because it holds up in scripture. Romans 8:28; Genesis 1:31; Psalm 139:14; and Hebrews 1:3 ALL speak of how Elohim is the originator of ALL THINGS. And since He is GOOD, all things birthed by HIM are GOOD (James James 1:17-18) – unless someone chooses to pervert it. But if we find something in the Word that comes from Elohim, and we apply it according to how He wants it applied (testing everything – 1 Thessalonians 5:21) as laid out in His Word, then that thing IS GOOD. That’s how we know healing is for always. It was released according to the Word (Revelation 13:8; Matthew 8:16-17). It was never in ANY part of the Word rescinded. It is ALWAYS for today (Isaiah 61:1-3). The Word gives us permission to seek it out and speak it out. “And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him” (1 John 5:14-15). This isn’t free reign to have a spiritual shopping spree.
Ask anything in accordance with the WORD. Not our desires or hopes. The WORD. This is the standard. This is the foundation of all the promises. This is what the power travels through. The Father HAS the power, the Son IS the WORD which frames it, Ruach HaKodesh moves through the Word and PERFORMS it. This is Creation. Look at Genesis 1. The Father had an idea at every step. The Word framed it. The Spirit performed it. Let there be … and there was. Thought to Word to Action. Elohim has thoughts. He has plans. We get to see some of them. We get to understand some of them. We are asked to trust in ALL of them. His Will has been made into Words. Why didn’t Jesus make eloquent arguments when He was tempted? Because the Word was already perfect. Jesus often quoted the Word, because it was already all that was needed. Jesus spent His ministry performing it, living it, and giving commentary on it. Jesus didn’t make up new rules. He followed and stood on what was already spoken. Jesus LIVED 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work.” Jesus was definitely capable and equipped for every good work He did. We don’t have a record of Him studying it, but He must have because He knew it. He quoted it. He lived by it. And He went off to pray to His Father on a regular basis. He fasted consistently. He kept His flesh trained to His will. He kept His will submitted to the Father. And He tested both by the Word, which He knew and taught was the Will of His Father. The Word was final authority as embodied in Himself, but He STILL referenced it. He did it for HIS benefit and He did it as a LESSON to us, His disciples. He also did it as a witness to the religious minds who embody the letter of the Law, but ignore the heart of it. Those who memorise it, but never apply it. That’s why though He KNEW He could call upon angels (Matthew 26:53-54), and was tempted to call on them (Matthew 4:6), Jesus trusted His Father as outlined in the Word instead of trying to use the Word to His own ends. That isn’t what the Word is for and it isn’t what angels are for.
Angels are ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14). They are in service to the Divine Royal Family. We’re royalty (1 Peter 2:9). It’s right that we have servants. But WE don’t send them out. They operate by the Father’s Will in accordance with the WORD. There are a variety of angels ‘at our disposal’, but they’re kind of like the police. The police are there to serve and protect the community. Yet the community cannot command the police. You cannot go to an officer and demand they do something because YOU want it done. They’re bound by LAW and are distributed to the community via dispatch who tells them where the problems are and monitors their location. In the same way angels are all around us. They are able to get things to us and to protect us. But WE do NOT command them. What we can do is look to Elohim as the source of our protection and the source of our provision and the source of what we need. He may send angels to do the thing, but we’re dealing with Elohim over it and not the angels. They are powerful spirit beings, but Elohim is the source of their power – it is not innate to themselves. We never pray to an angel. We don’t even pray to Jesus, but in His NAME. “At that time you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive it, so that your joy may be complete” (John 16:23-24). We don’t ask Jesus, we ask the Father in Jesus’ Name. This is not some divine splitting of hairs. We ARE Jesus in the Father’s eyes (2 Corinthians 5:21). Remember that we are in Jesus and Jesus is in us (John 17:20-23). Spiritually, we are identical. We are instructed by Jesus to remember that by having us ask the Father instead of asking ourselves (since we are Him and He is us). By asking the Father in Jesus’ Name, every prayer and every request is a reminder of WHO WE ARE. A reminder of our royalty. Our priesthood. Our place in the Kingdom (1 Peter 2:9). It should be edifying to us. It should affirm everything that Jesus said to us. We should be integrating His calling us by who we really are into how we think of ourselves every day. It’s one of the reasons real prayer (versus begging to the ceiling) is so very important. It is also one of the reasons praying in the Spirit (which can be done more than one way) edifies us. Our spirit communicating with His without our ego, memories, and self-esteem (healthy or poor) getting in the way. It’s additional training on the importance of the WORD – without which we would have no evidence of the witness of what He said. It always comes back to the Word (which IS Jesus).
Elohim watches over His WORD to perform it. In other words, the ONLY thing Adonai Elohim performs is His WORD. He won’t perform for us. Begging doesn’t work. Need doesn’t work. Desire doesn’t work. Trust (faith) in His ability to DO doesn’t work. The WORD works if you use it in accordance with the rest of the WORD – no cherry picking. The transforming power of the Word is that it changes our SUBCONSCIOUS (Romans 12:2). Our subconscious is the driving force underlying our decisions, words, and actions. It is the steering column in the vehicle of our inner selves. We might spin the wheel to the right, but the tensions in the column will inevitably pull the wheel and the tires back to the left. Whatever we truly believe in our subconscious is what we will find ourselves doing and being. If we think poor, we’ll blow through our money. If we think toil, we’ll always be on the lookout for the next job or the better pay or the improved position. If we think religiously, we’ll deny the Blessing Adonai says He is holding out to us and refuse the power He wants to flow through you. We need the Word to turn that thinking around. To transform our mental landscape – physically as well as figuratively. To renew our minds to being TRUE human beings – just like Jesus was (Philippians 2:5). One of the biggest things we need to internalise is that if it is born of His Word, then it will operate as He says, when He says, in whom He says, and how He says.
Healing is born of Elohim (1 Peter 2:24) and will overcome the ‘natural’ sickness and the diseases of this world. The spiritual is the building blocks of the physical (Hebrews 11:3), so the physical is subject to the spiritual (Mark 11:23). It’s in His WORD. If He says it, He can do it. When we accept this principle, believing it and trusting in it, then the miraculous and the supernatural will be at home in our lives. Abraham was given promises by Adonai, but nothing happened until He fully trusted in them. Once Abraham decided that Adonai could perform what He said He could, he held to that. Didn’t matter what he saw or what was happening. He did not waver in belief – so it happened (Romans 4:21). We’re on the other side. We don’t need to believe Adonai can perform what He says He can perform. We need to believe He PERFORMED what He SAYS He performed. When we do, the miraculous and the supernatural will be at home in our lives. They will occur and it will not seem in ANY way abnormal. In fact, the only abnormal thing would be them NOT happening regularly and consistently. Adonai says He released healing for everyone (1 Peter 2:24) and everyone can be healed if they engage it (Matthew 8:16-17). It’s in the WORD. “I can pray this because his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence. Through these things he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises, so that by means of what was promised you may become partakers of the divine nature, after escaping the worldly corruption that is produced by evil desire” (2 Peter 1:3-4). Jesus’ divine power has given us everything necessary for life. We don’t deserve it. He gives it anyway.
Sickness is not necessary for life and in fact limits it. Since Jesus gives us HIS divine nature, we shouldn’t accept sickness or lack. Neither of those are in the divine nature. He doesn’t lack anything. He isn’t sick in ANY way. No diseases operate in Him in ANY way. We can be the same RIGHT NOW where we are (1 John 4:17). It is okay to believe His Word. These promises are born of Elohim and meant to produce a fruit in us. Believe the Word as written. Literally. Abraham did, and he was called a friend of Elohim. Friends believe each other. Believing the Word is a GREAT place to start a relationship with Jesus. In fact, it is the BEST place to start.
Daily Affirmation Jesus IS Messiah: Isaiah 61:1-2
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has chosen me. He has commissioned me to encourage the poor, to help the brokenhearted, to decree the release of captives and the freeing of prisoners, to announce the year when the Lord will show his favor, the day when our God will seek vengeance, to console all who mourn,” Messiah would preach the good news. His mission would have more than one part, but a HUGE part would be spreading the Good News that humanity and Elohim could once again have fellowship. “and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and the regaining of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him. Then he began to tell them, “Today this scripture has been fulfilled even as you heard it being read” (Luke 4:17-21). It wasn’t just a claim He made in synagogues. He lived it. “Then Jesus went throughout all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and sickness” (Matthew 9:35). Jesus preached the Gospel. Jesus healed the sick. Jesus also did something that was done NO WHERE in the Old Covenant. Jesus healed the BLIND. “Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” And immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they too gave praise to God” (Luke 18:42-43). Jesus IS Messiah!
