Daily Affirmation #300

Be devoted to one another with brotherly love; prefer one another in honor, do not be lazy in diligence, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord, rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer” (Romans 12:10-12, MEV). When Jesus became the sacrifice that paid for Sin, removing the only barrier between us and God, the curtain which separated God’s presence from the people tore in two (Matthew 27:51). That meant that ordinary people – not just priests – had access to God. But we don’t live in a Temple, so how do we connect with Him if we can’t go before a physical place and worship? God chose us. He came and took up residence within us when we accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9). WE are now the Temple (1 Corinthians 3:16). Which means WE are the point we can go to to interact with God. We do that through PRAYER. We open our mouths and SPEAK. It’s that simple. It’s that EASY. We need to talk to Him. Just like He was sitting beside us – because He NEVER leaves us (Hebrews 13:8). God loves us and wants fellowship with us. Anyone who has ever had a friend or been in a relationship knows that communication is the key to fellowship. The devil has spent a lot of time trying to formalize prayer and mock prayer so that we either will make it complicated and dry or ignore it completely. But God wants it simple and easy. Talk to Him. Listen to Him. There’s no barrier. There’s no curtain. He’s right there with you. Take time all the time to speak to your companion, your coach and guide, your Lord and friend. Speak to Him and listen to His response. He’s eager to talk to YOU. He loves you.
