Fear No Fear

“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved. Those who trust in him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son” (John 3:17-18, CJB). Water runs in one direction. When we are in the stream, we can only go one of two ways. Upstream or downstream. We are either being pulled along by the current or we are going against it. God knew from before Creation that we would make a choice that put us at the mercy of the current (Revelation 13:8). He was not willing to let us stay there. He wanted to get us back in HIS boat, which is NOT at the mercy of the current. The first Adam jumped out of it. The last Adam gives us the opportunity to get back in. Jesus is not standing in the boat yelling at us. He isn’t condemning us. He isn’t pointing at us and laughing because of where the current is taking us. He LOVES us. He’s reaching out to us, eager to help us into the boat. He’s made sure the boat is big enough for EVERYONE. We don’t HAVE to get in. But we CAN. We have been CALLED to. We can RESPOND and GET IN. Jesus came to give us the opportunity to change where we’re headed. To change where we will end up. To end with HIM instead of WITHOUT Him. Be the change He’s offering. We WITH Him. He won’t stop holding out His hand. He loves you too much to leave you wet.
