Daily Affirmation #314

but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water that I shall give him will become in him a well of water springing up into eternal life” (John 4:14, MEV). ‘springing up’ in the original language refers to an atrisinal spring. According to drilcorp.com, ‘an artesian well is a water well that doesn’t require a pump to bring water to the surface. This occurs when there is enough positive pressure in the aquifer to bring the water to the surface’. When we choose Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, He doesn’t assume the position of some highfalutin drill sergeant barking commands at us. He becomes for us an artesian well. His positive pressure brings the Water of Life flowing up into us and then out of us (Revelation 22:1-4). It is the water that cleanses us of the curse, enabling us to walk in what Jesus says we can. It is the water that provides for us, refreshes us, and keeps us ever-renewed. If we drink of Him, we will never be weary. We will never be lost. We will never be dry in a desert place. We’ll be refreshed and vibrant in a desert place. Or a mountain plateau. Or a forest. Or wherever we find ourselves. We will always and ever be ready to produce fruit because we will always have what we need to succeed: Jesus (John 15:5). Eternal life is an on-going and ever-deepening relationship with God (John 17:3). And Jesus provides us the water to sustain it on a daily basis. Always flowing. Always rising. Always pushing out the bad. If we will look to Him and humbly submit to His Will and His Work in us, we will always have a way to be strong (Nehemiah 8:10), vibrant (John 10:10), and overcoming our circumstances in Jesus (John 16:33). By willingly turning the tap in worship, grateful thanksgiving, and praise, we can enjoy the renewing, strengthening, and refreshing Water of Life consistently and joyfully. What a GREAT gift He is to us!
